Sunday - Wednesday, September 10-13, ComCap17 National Conference in Downtown Monterey.  Short for Community Capital, ComCap17 emphasizes community empowerment and economic self-determination by providing tools, models, and road maps for energizing local economies.  People who reside in our community today should be able to participate in the economy of tomorrow as opposed to being displaced by it.  For this to happen, ordinary residents, members of neighborhood associations, business associations, community leaders, policy makers and financial institutions must be involved as co-coordinators.  Sign up for the entire conference, one day, or individual sessions.  Register and learn more HERE.

Monday, September 11, 1:30 pm & 7 pm, Public Water Now will present:  Why Do a Feasibility Study Before a Cal Am Buyout? 
Speaker Richard Hajas, former General Manager Casitas Municipal Water District, served as General Manager of public water systems for over 30 years - 15 of those years with Casitas Municipal Water District.  He prepared the feasibility report to acquire the Golden State corporate-owned water system for the Ojai-Casitas Municipal Water District public buyout effort which is currently underway.   Afternoon and evening forums will cover the same material.  PWN Forums are Free and Open to the Public.  Visit www.publicwaternow.org for the latest local water news.

Thursday, September 16, 10 am - 11 am, Seaside's Sea Stars will gather in Havana Soliz Park.  Bring your family, friends and neighbors and come prepared for an hour’s worth of painting, sand sifting, raking, and pruning, while you have some fun and beautify Seaside.  Lots of hands make light work!  For more email Gloria Stearns.

Saturday, September 9, 11 AM – 4 PM.  Sustainable Seaside’s 7th Annual Sustainable Living Tour Ideas By and For Ordinary People. Visit home and schoolyard gardens maintained with sustainable Low Impact Development ("LID") practices, including rainwater irrigation, mulching, composting, raised beds, and drought-tolerant and pest-resistant ornamental plants.  This year’s sponsors are Monterey Stormwater & Education Alliance (Monterey SEA) and the City of Seaside.  Seaside City Hall Lawn will be the site for tour registration and check-in, as well as the one-stop Information Fair with booths covering a variety of sustainable practices.  This is a family event, with live entertainment and a raffle for earth-friendly goods and services.  Pre-register at Seaside-SLT-2017.eventbrite.comMore info, contact Sustainabl...@gmail.com.
