Greetings all,
The Livingston community garden is coming along well. As of Monday there were 27 paid-up registrations for plots. The land has had an initial tilling, and the fence is halfway complete thanks to a great effort in the rain last Saturday by volunteers from the Nazarene church (see attached photos).
There will be a work day at the garden site this Saturday, from 9 am to 5 pm. The work will include finishing the fence and spreading 316 bags of 'organic choice garden soil' that we received through a grant from Scott's. Bulk compost-manure mix will be spread a little later and tilled in.
If you can, please come for some or all of that time, and/or encourage others who would like some constructive exercise to come and help out! The garden is on Merchants Drive, just behind the fire station on Livingston Avenue, between the High School and Brice Road. I will be out of town this weekend and won't be able to join the gang. Jason Shamblin or Tim Newland from Parks and Recreation will be coordinating on site.
Thanks,
Mark
