Reminder: Reynoldsburg Clean-Up planning meeting

Just a reminder that the next planning meeting for Reynoldsburg Clean-Up
is Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10 am at the Reynoldsburg Municipal
Building.

Below are the minutes from the April 15th meeting.

April 15, 2011
Minutes

Attending: Mary Hudson, Dick Hudson, Jim McLean, Tricia Moore,
Jason Shamblin, Mark Kipp, Jim Miller, Brad McCloud, Donna Bauman, Luke
Haire, Norm Brusk, Chris Lavender, Todd Garula, Mark McKenzie, Diana
Hartings

Introductions were made
Mary H – there is $485 plus checks received today in our account.
Expenses will be for t-shirts and _____________pieces. Hope to receive
more donations

Jason S – Reynoldsburg Youth Foundation will be having a
garage sale at Greentree.

Mary H – Janelle talked to the school
administrators at their weekly meeting. Poster contest due date has
been extended to May 10th

Luke – Electronic Drop off has been set –
Ohio Drop-Off will have a truck and one employee here at 8:30am; will
need 2-3 volunteers to help. School bus garage is a drop off at anytime
There will be no guarantee of data security on the hard drives

Mary H –
No Household Hazardous Waste drop-off needs to be advertised on June 4

Chris L – will get us an address of the company for the HHW for
drop-offs during the week other than SWACO

Mary H – Will contact Mt.
Carmel for possible medicine drop-off

Norm B – Will check with
Walgreen’s for boxes for medicine disposal

Mark M – Controlled
substances versus regular medicine is an issue.

Mary H will check into
protocol for medicine

Mark K – is putting notice in water bills as a
universal notice; needs to be done immediately, within the next two
weeks

Diana H – is to call to get insert in the water bills. Get
contact name from Mark RUMPKE is to increase the order for red bins
from 100 to 200

Mark K – is SWACO the only company for HHW?

Chris L –
there is a very large charge for the other company to pick up HHW

Todd
G – Cintas shredding truck is set to go; will be in the same spot from
9 to 3. Can also pick up electronics also but hard drives have to be
separated.

Mary H – Rick Keys and Mark Kipp are working on the Fix-Up
portion. Forms are ready and are at the Front Desk and Senior Center

Mark K – Has Rick Keys contacted the RUMC?
Jim M - Has
contacted them but have not heard back

Jason S – Knows of a group that
might help out (Barth Cotner’s church group). Also the Reynoldsburg
Church of the Nazarene might be interested

Mary H – Lions Club will
once again work in the creeks

Donna B – will ask the Knights of
Columbus

Mark K – Fix-Up homes are checked out before the event in
order to be prepared for the work needing to be done

Jim M -
Comment – trashiest areas are on the south side of Broad Street and
wooded area on west Waggoner Road; Truro Township needs to be contacted
in order for them to coordinate with us in getting trash cleaned up
because residents do no understand the boundaries are

Mary H – will
contact the Township about coordinating

Mary H – Areas will be assigned
for clean-up by the volunteers Discussion on Adopt-A-Spot; will be a
part of the Clean-Up event

Donna B – will check on the trash pickers
Mark M – Discussed mercury in batteries

Discussion on fluorescent
bulbs; Chris L will look into special kits from RUMPKE/Cincinnati
branch

Mary H – gets phone calls all year long about the Clean-Up
week. The web site needs to be updated

Norm B – Constant Contact from
the Chamber will be put out

Mary H – Target zip packs need to be ready
for May 25 delivery

Donna B – will help Diana in getting information on
the web

Norm B – Flyer on the 20-Minute Make Over on June 3, 2011.
Will contact businesses on Main Street and the 256 area Luke will
contact Lowe’s

Jason S – will send flyers through the schools asking
for volunteers for Plant Reynoldsburg and Clean-Up Day

Dick H – will
contact businesses for food donations

Donna B – who is contacting
Pepsi? (Mary Hudson) Donna to get the name of the contact person

Push-In signs were discussed; they would be better than the big
banners. Jason S has contacts. Could be used year after year; make
them so they dates can be changed every year. Possible cost around $50
Diana H to locate big banner (P & R has it)

Trish M – Discussion on
Habitat for Humanity. Monica forwarded information via email; Habitat
will accept lots of different materials. Collection could be an
enormous undertaking at this time. Needs to be manned by Habitat for
Humanity

Mary H – Jim M, Jason S and Luke H will work on the set-up
locations for June 4

Discussion was held about having a Pre-cycle Day.
This year is too soon. Internal discussion between Jason S and the
Mayor about possibly next year
