Greetings,

Logistically, the event this past Saturday went well. Congratulations
to all participants.

Still, are we satisfied with what we did this year or do we want to
build on this success?

The original intent of the event was community appearance. As the logo
says, "clean up, spruce up, fix up."

The event now has more directions than that. The winning advertising
poster this year spoke of "reduce, reuse, and recycle." The original
intent was not even mentioned.

If a green focus is what we want, then there are opportunities to do
more of this. The way the parking lot was used this year provides space
to do additional things.

For example, we could add metal recycling. This year metal items went
into bulk disposal because there was no one to take metal. If we do
not have a metal recycler in the future, then Habit's Restore would be
interested in collecting metal items (they know how to convert the
metal into funds for their organization).

Also, we might want a company on site grinding yard waste. The
volunteer crew sprucing up the 12 resident's homes brought back high
volume, low density brush and limbs. This could be ground on site and
the wood chips used by Reynoldsburg. I know of a responsible tree
trimming company that participates in festivals. They might be
interested in doing six hours of grinding on a Saturday as an
advertising opportunity.

That is just a couple of ideas. If anyone else has additional
thoughts, let us talk about them soon. If we can develop a
recommendation list we can email it to the people involved in
organization while the even is still fresh in their minds.

Best,

Mark McKenzie
