Hi all,

Solar scientists predictions of a Grand Solar Minimum are on track. This is the seventh year in succession with record cold and snowfalls across the northern hemisphere.
Some still go on about the 0,0012% of the atmosphere which is the human-release of the life giving gas C02. It is not a pollutant. And it is unlikely to be affecting the climate. For most of the time life has existed on the planet it was much higher in concentration than now. We need to focus more on genuine pollution, the fact that the price of uranium is on the rise- the expansion of the Olympic Dam mine is back on the table as well as mines planned for Queensland, the coming crisis caused by GM foods etc.

Temperature records have been tampered with. In Australia temperatures recorded 100 years ago were actually on average higher than today. The original raw data has been tinkered with. Indeed the highest temperatures recorded in this country were in 1896. During a heat wave it reached 51 degrees in Camden in western Sydney, 49degrees in Perth and 47degrees in Geelong. The BOM conveniently overlook these records. In other countries the temperature records from the past have also been adjusted.
Look at the northern Hemisphere and see record cold periods, even in the tropics with SNOW!
Here's ten news stories of the cold freezes and snow.

Global warming (?).  Global Freezing seems more likely! Try googling 'Grand Solar Minimum' or 'Maunder Minmum'- the period between 1645 and 1715 when the Sun went into a major hibernation, the effects for humanity were disastrous.
All the best,
 Jon

Forecasts called for widespread snowfall over the mountainous districts of Sapa and Bat Xat in north-western Lao Cai province last night, with temperatures plummeting to minus two degree Celsius.
Luu Minh Hai, director of Lao Cai provincial Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, warned local people to take timely measures to protect crops and animals and build shelters to protect their livestock against the cold weather.
He added that the snow and heavy rain will continue for the next few days and it will probably block traffic on many roads.  Many tourists have booked hotel rooms in Sapa tonight to enjoy the beauty of snow.

Record Snow in Florida
by ROBERT on JANUARY 10, 2015
Snow flurries from Jacksonville through coastal Georgia
"Snow danced over the streets of Jacksonville Thursday for the first time in five years and tied the record for the day of a trace set 57 years ago," says News4jax.com.

"Granted it's not a Buffalo type record, where the only way of escape out of your house after a snow event is out the second story window. But this is Florida and any flurry, whether one or a dozen is a BIG deal.
"Around 10 a.m. Thursday, multiple reports started pouring into the newsroom of flurries around Jacksonville, then spreading north to Fernandina Beach, Yulee and into coastal Georgia in the afternoon."

Greek islands buried under 6? ft (2 mtr) of snow - Video
by ROBERT on JANUARY 9, 2015
At least 8 villages isolated - Normally sun-drenched islanders lose power and water
Heavy snowfall disabled much of the infrastructure on the Cycladic island of Tinos, prompting the General Secretariat for Civil Protection to declare a state of emergency on Thursday.  At least eight villages on Tinos were cut off Thursday as snow levels reached up to 2 meters while schools and public services remained closed. The Hellenic Navy said it would dispatch a vessel to Tinos to accommodate some of the islanders until water and electricity are restored.

The nearby island of Andros was suffering similar problems Thursday, where a state of emergency will also likely be declared.
An enduring cold snap left much of the country, including parts of Attica, Crete and many of the Cycladic islands, covered with snow Thursday. Several parts of northern Attica remained difficult to access, including Drosia, Dionysos, Varybobi and Thrakomakedones.   Communities snowed in include Falatados, Steni, Tripopotamos, Kardiani, Ysternia, Panormos, Pyrgos and Komi.

Sa Pa, Vietnam is interesting. It is located on the eastern extremity of the Himalayas and is about 5,000 ft above sea-level. And, it snows there!

Didn't bother researching the remainder, as obviously you haven't.

All the best.

Garry

Have you looked up 'Grand Solar Minimum' or 'Maunder Minimum' yet Garry?

Scientists from the National Solar Observatory in the US, NASA, also solar and climate scientists in the UK, Russia, Japan, Germany and elsewhere are warning that we are at the start of a Grand Solar Minimum. It will be the real climate crisis we are likely to face in the 21st century.

You should try get hold of a book called "Chill" by Peter Taylor, he's a scientist and environmentalist and former adviser to Tony Blair on renewable energy. He points out that many climate scientists are anticipating drastic cold this century, that the UK govt is planning on drastic cooling- yet publicly promoting "warming". Funny,eh. I remember Michael Cole King saying me a few years ago that "global warming" was 99% politics and 1% science. He also understood the significance of the Sun with regard to our climate as he was trained in astronomy.

Anyone with an interest in solar power should, ideally, learn about the effect of regular changes in the Sun on our climate. In the 1600s millions of people died because of a solar hibernation (or Grand Solar Minimum). A thousand years ago the arctic was almost completely ice free, and the population in Europe and China grew dramatically for at least 300 years because of heightened solar activity.

Another fascinating book specifically on the topic of the changing climate this century and the GSM, is "Twilight of Abundance" by climate scientist David Archibald. Unfortunately he foretells of cold, drought, famine and depending on your point of view about whether it's a good or bad thing, serious population decline (it's all happened before).

Thanks for your comments Garry,
See you round
Jon
