WWF - Earth Hour - This earth hour, go beyond the hour - 8:30PM, Saturday 26 March 2011
Dear Kathleen
Be quick, entries to the WWF Earth Hour Awards close on 25 February!

This year WWF Australia is proud to launch the national WWF Earth Hour Awards, recognising and celebrating everyday, individual Australians "walking the talk", exemplifying what it is to live beyond the hour for a healthier planet.
Who are we looking for?

The WWF Earth Hour Awards are designed to invite and share the grassroots action being taken across all sections of the community, from school kids through to those who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to the environment throughout their lives.

We are looking for passionate and outstanding individuals in the following five categories:

Young Panda - Little actions can make a big difference! This one is for the under 15's embodying the Earth Hour spirit, taking proactive action for the planet.

Education - For those who are making a significant contribution to educating others on how to live more sustainable lives. It might be a teacher, school or scout group!

Workplace Champions - Recognising an individual or team with big ideas, taking exceptional initiative within their workplace to positively impact the environment.

Future Makers - For those among us who are taking innovative action to protect and preserve our planet into the future and who are inspiring others to do the same.

Lifetime Achievement - For the leaders in our community, who are leading by example and guiding younger generations to make a difference too.

The Awards are also a chance for Australians to share their actions and achievements. By sharing these stories, the goal is to inspire wider change towards greener ways of living, to educate and spur on others to think and live more sustainably.
How to apply
The WWF Earth Hour Awards are open for online entry until 25 February 2011. That's less than two weeks away!

To apply, all you need to do is go to the Earth Hour Australia website, tell us your story and upload a picture so we know who you are. Or, if you know someone who is doing their bit for the environment, encourage them to apply.

On March 4 the four finalists for each category will go under the public vote in the People's Choice Award.

There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs, including a Solahart hot water heater to the value of $6000, a trip to the stunning Clare Valley in South Australia, and some pretty special money-can't-buy experiences.
Help us spread the word
We know there are individuals across the country, in every town, city and region who are taking great action for the planet.

Please help us spread the word by telling your friends, family and colleagues about the WWF Earth Hour Awards.

Earth Hour is not just about one hour of darkness, it is about a lifetime of sustainability.

Yours sincerely

You can reduce your mains water supply by at least a quarter when you use collected rainwater in your garden. Plants prefer it too!
