Environmental Champions - Melbourne Style!

A local government in Melbourne ran a highly successful environmental champions program in 2012. Community members came together over a number of months to develop and deliver environmental projects of their choice.


With the aim being to inform and inspire, Marcelle will tell the story of the planning, delivery and outcome of this exciting initiative.


FORMAT - 20 minute presentation, allowing a further 20 minutes for questions.



Economics for Sustainability - Local Resilience Planning

This is a presentation and workshop based on the "Five Capitals" policy development framework devised by the UK's "Forum for the Future" with other institutions and academics. It is an outcome of a training workshop conducted in Canberra last year by Sara Parkin, founding director of Forum for the Future and author of "The Positive Deviant: Sustainability leadership in a perverse world".


We will look at how policies, both government and non-government, affect us. Hence, empowering us to engage these agencies with considered knowledge.The Five Capitals are: Natural Capital, Human Capital, Social Capital, Manufactured Capital and Financial Capital.


FORMAT - 30 minute presentation, followed by a 45 minute workshop
