FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 4, 2025

Delaware County Historical Society to Present program on Regenerative Farming

As part of our series of programs on Agriculture, Jeff Dickinson will discuss “The Importance of History on Promoting a More Ecological Agriculture: A Regenerative Farmer’s Perspective” at the Barn at Stratford on Wednesday, June 18. The program begins at 7 p.m. at 2690 Stratford Road, Delaware. Dickinson is a farmer, educator and researcher at Stratford Ecological Center, 3083 Liberty Road, Delaware.

Dickinson will describe historical, or traditional, agriculture and farming practices used in all regions of the world, including Delaware County. Many tenets of ecological agriculture today have been followed since Ohio first became a state. The enduring connections between historical agriculture, including indigenous farming practices and beliefs, and modern regenerative farming continue to influence and shape the farms of today and tomorrow.

Regenerative farming is a holistic approach to agriculture that restores and enhances soil health and biodiversity, ultimately leading to soil health and more productive farms. It mimics natural processes, improving soil health and working with rather than against ecosystems.
