Dear SDO Members and Friends: 

Thought some of you may be interested in this message by John & Susan McGrail. A while back, they objected to the construction of a new Speedway truck refueling stop on US 23 N. I have not yet seen the massage parlor myself, but I agree that the area is an important gateway for the City of Delaware that should be monitored to ensure it does not sully the city's brand and reputation. -- If anyone knows more about the particular facility, please the information. My apologies if you received the same message twice.

As predicted and discussed at city council & planning meetings, we now have a massage parlor between the truck parking lot at McDonalds & Speedway Truck “refueling center” AKA short term parking & self policing truck stop. It is located in the blue house with the neon sign “OPEN”.

 

I spoke with Mr.L. Shultz @ Delaware City and he said “an Asian Lady came in to open the massage parlor “ and "does not know if she has a license to massage or not.” He further said “she can open a business and does not need to show she is what she represents herself to be." 

Only,” if we see sexual activity and can prove it” then the City of Delaware can look onto the matter. I suggest a neon sign saying “ OPEN “ at weird hours is probably not a true medical massage parlor. I have not had time to stop in and ask if she has a license or not. The hours are so weird. I am not comfortable entering by myself. Also the car parked in the lot is never the same car on any given day far as I can tell from my trips in and out of Oakhurst the past 6 weeks from route 23.  I try to avoid route 23 because the intersection is so dangerous. 

Does anyone have Mr. Amato’s contact information for this rental property since he is said to own the property if I am correct ?  I have asked Mr. Shultz for the City Code & Ordinances about this and he reluctantly said he would send me something. I find the new web page to the city makes it hard to find anything. I have yet to get his email, I called him on Friday of last week.

I have called Officer Hatcher and spoke with him several weeks ago. Today I left another message about my conversation with Mr Shultz. 

Officer Hatcher did say he would check it out a few weeks ago but has been on vacation and no word as of today.
