Hi all,

Thanks again to those of you who were able to attend the Joint Working Group meeting on February 8th (I’m very sorry to have missed out with a brutal cold). About 250 people attended to identify areas of overlap between working groups and provide input on working group draft goals. Overall, it was a very productive meeting. For those of you unable to attend, meeting materials and information are posted here, including a forum for providing feedback on our overall draft vision statement.

With the Joint Working Group meeting last week, we are turning a corner in the working group process. With just a few meetings left, we hope you will continue to actively participate in meetings. Our next meeting, a week from today, Thursday 2/23 at 6pm, 441 4th Street NW, Room 1114.  At this meeting, we will use the input from the Joint Working Group Meeting to revise our draft goals and actions. Please find attached an agenda for this meeting attached to this email. I will be sending more information around on where things stand with our prioritized goals and actions before the meeting next week.

For schedule planning purposes, we have set the date for an additional meeting as well. Meeting #7 will be Tuesday 3/6/12 at 6pm, 441 4th Street NW, Room 1114. We will attach performance indicators to recommended goals and actions at this meeting. We will  have one final meeting in mid-April when the working group report is in draft form. After that, there will still be opportunities to stay engaged in the Sustainable DC process as it moves forward.

Also, I would like to thank two of my tireless co-facilitators who are both moving on from Office of Planning, but I’m sure will remain engaged in the overall process. Will Handsfield and John Heermans have both made this working group possible with hard work and lots of effort organizing and transcribing notes, and thanks to Will, too, for being a great co-facilitator. We will have a new OP intern to take John’s place at the meeting next week, but I’m just happy they’ve gotten us this far.

If you have any questions, please let me know. If not, we look forward to seeing you next week!

Sam
