Folks,

Thank you for the opportunity to present the PowerPoint on establishing an ECO – Energy Conservation Ordinance – at last night's Energy Group meeting.

I appreciate the comments offered last night and will bring these back to the ECO sub-group when we meet again next Wednesday.  We will use the comments to further update and refine the ECO concept into a proposal for presentation to the DC City Council.

If you have additional thoughts or comments on the ECO, I hope you will email these to me. I'm also happy to answer any additional questions anyone may have.

Hello All,

I mentioned last night the Building Museum's forthcoming panel on Mandatory Energy Use Disclosure.  It's next Thurs., March 1st, from 6:30 - 8pm.  Representatives from cities implementing such laws will be speaking, including from Seattle, San Francisco, New York.  See details below.

Nearly a dozen municipalities across the country have passed new laws mandating property owners to measure and publicly release the energy use of their buildings. City representatives from Seattle, New York City and San Francisco will discuss the challenges of  implementing new reporting requirements and the impact this information is having on local real estate markets. This program is presented in collaboration with the Urban Land Institute.

Participants include:

  • Barry Hooper, Private Sector Green Building Specialist, San Francisco Department of Environment, City and County of San Francisco
  • Laurie Kerr, Senior Policy Advisor, New York City Mayor’s Office of Long Term Planning and Sustainability
  • Charles Leitner, Chairman, Greenprint Center for Building Performance, Urban Land Institute
  • Matthew Wald, Journalist, New York Times (moderator)

1.5 LU (AIA) / 1.5 CE (GBCI)

$12 Members; FREE Students; $20 Non-members. Prepaid registration required. Walk-in registration based on availability.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Registration is for event planning purposes only and does not guarantee a seat. Online registration for Museum programs closes at midnight the day before the scheduled program.

The Museum's award-winning Shop and Firehook Café are open for one hour prior to the start of the program. Shop and Café hours are subject to change.
