I have shared with everyone in the google group a google docs version of the best practices document, for you to add other best practices you know of.

A number of you have also written to me asking for invites to the google group. I didn’t send the initial invites, and I’m not sure how to send new ones, to be honest. But I think anyone who wants to join the google group can just go to the google group website and click join group. (This will also be useful if you signed up with your work e-mail but would rather associate your gmail with the google group.) If this doesn’t work for you let me know and I’ll investigate further.

Subject: Sustainable DC Built Environment Working Group Background Information

Hello Sustainable DC Built Environment Working Group Member,

Attached you will find the following files intended as background information for your work with the Sustainable DC Built Environment Working Group:

·         DRAFT best practices from a selection of other U.S. city sustainability plans

·         Community input collected online and from over 50 community meetings and events this fall

·         Formal input submitted by stakeholder organizations

Please note the draft best practices document is not intended to be an exhaustive collection of best practices, but rather a starting point for your working group’s additional research. Existing conditions information (current District plans, projects, and policies) are being reviewed by District agency staff and will be sent early next week. All of this information will be posted online shortly.

If you have any questions or concerns about any of this information, please let us know at sustainab...@dc.gov. Thank you again for your role in making our city a greener, healthier, more livable place to live, work, and play!

Thanks,

The Sustainable DC Planning Team
