Hello to all,

Im a little disappointed in this group. Out of 131 members
only few have have something to contribute. I quess 128 of you all
are in it for the potential revenue. So sad.com! Since im born and
raise DC native and still live here, its my life's calling to
represent for my city.

Sustainable DC can happen now for our government. We can have a RFP
to have local contractors bid on energy and efficiency solicitation to
reuse, retrofit, and reduce the governments energy at its facilities
of its biggest users. Contractors will only be paid by the energy
savings each month, maybe paying the contractor 40% of the savings.
This keeps the contractor bring its best because their not paid for
their work unless the District save money. Now lets see Who loves DC
and will do this for a deferred fee. Im game, because my firm (100%
DC resident operated) and myself are willing to compete againt any
firm, claiming their the best in the Energy and Efficiency industry. I
wll call this competition:

The Biggest Consumer "Passing Gas in Dc"

Hi Jermaine,

Do not despair! I'm sure many of the other 127 are like me -- ready and willing to help out, but still catching up with all of the Sustainable DC info and wanting to understand it all properly so we can respond intelligently. Some of you have been very fast out of the gate! We'll catch up.

We're working in DC neighborhoods too, trying to bring sustainable, beautiful and healthy environments to EVERY school and community. As you pointed out, it's not about the money, it's about making a positive change where it's most needed.

Back to the earlier posting: I think the best thing about the Better Buildings Initiative is the fact that the need for more sustainable building is finally receiving widespread recognition at the corporate level. For more and more corporate heads, it's no longer a matter of whether or not this sustainability issue is real, it's a matter of being first and best in that realm too. That's a kind of competition we can all benefit from. Heartening.

Looking forward to working with you all.
