Have you heard of the Mid-Valley Food Hub? We source local food for institutions from multiple farms with one order, one invoice, one delivery.
When David Landis and Anita Azarenko from La Mancha Ranch and Orchard in Sweet Home shared they needed to sell more apples to make room for the next varieties that needed harvesting, we launched Operation Apple. And in 4 weeks we distributed more than 1,400#s of apples to 4 schools.
When Gathering Together Farm in Philomath lost a juicing account, Operation Carrot moved 3,500#s of carrots to food banks in two weeks.
In November, we mobilized individual donations, including $9,000 from the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition’s It’s on Us Corvallis program – distributing $50 of market tokens to 151 SNAP cardholders at our Fill Your Pantry event. And four food banks ordered local food for the holidays, from the MVFH, with the remaining funds.
If you agree we are building critical foundational infrastructure, increasing community food resilience and responding to emergent needs – consider a donation to Ten Rivers Food Web to support this program. Together, we can do great things!
