Murder mystery fans won’t want to miss a lively tell-all discussion with Paty Jager, who writes the popular Gabriel Hawke series, and Dwight Holing, who pens the acclaimed Nick Drake Novels. They’ll share why they chose to set their mysteries in Oregon, how that makes their books unique, their development of realistic characters, portrayal of Native American culture and tradition, and exhaustive research. Both will also give a short reading from their new releases and answer questions.

Paty Jager is an award-winning author of 54 novels, 8 novellas, and numerous anthologies of murder mystery and western romance. All her work has Western or Native American elements in them along with hints of humor and engaging characters. Paty and her husband raise alfalfa hay in rural eastern Oregon. Riding horses and battling rattlesnakes, she not only writes the western lifestyle, she lives it.

Dwight Holing draws on his deeply-rooted connection to the American West and understanding of the natural world cultivated over years of reporting on conservation issues to create the Nick Drake Novels, a seven-book literary thriller series. He was awarded the Arts & Letters Prize for short fiction and is the author of twenty books, including novels and nonfiction books on wildlife, natural history, and adventure travel.
