Greetings, community members~!

The Sustainability Coalition's Waste Prevention Action Team is proud to partner with The Arts Center on a series of sustainable programs in conjunction with their newest exhibition in the Main Gallery: The Frimpong Case.

Vincent Frimpong is an artist who has created work from textiles that Americans ship to Africa as "donations". The show will directly confront the burden this practice puts on foreign communities, as well as the consumerist and disposable nature of our society.

The Opening Reception, this Thursday, May 21, 5:30 – 7 PM, will feature a Panel Discussion hosted by leaders of local thrift shops alongside an expert on sustainable global fashion. Come learn about how fast fashion is impacting local charities and what happens to unsellable donations.

Three subsequent Unlocking Art sessions on May 26, June 6, and June 30 will feature community guests ready to share mending skills with you so that you can make your clothes last longer.

Last but not least, a free community clothing swap will be held June 27 right in the Main Gallery on Saturday, June 27, 12 – 5 PM.
Drop off dates are June 23 – 26, 12 – 5 PM.

Tell your friends and hope to see you there!
