“When the Grid Goes Out:
Solar, Batteries, and Natural Disasters”
Tuesday, June 30, 7:00 – 8:30 pm
Corvallis-Benton County Public Library
Fires. Floods. Earthquakes. What happens to the electric grid when disaster strikes – and what does that mean for our community? Learn how grid outages affect businesses and communities, and how solar, batteries, and microgrids have kept the power on in some communities during disasters like hurricanes and fires.
This special presentation by Dan Orzech, General Manager of the Oregon Clean Power Cooperative (OCPC), will provide an eye-opening look at our vulnerability and paths toward greater resilience. The OCPC develops community-owned solar projects around Oregon, including several in Corvallis. Orzech has worked with solar power since 2009 and has developed solar projects around the country.
Following Orzech’s presentation, he will be joined by panelists Cassandra Robertson of Abundant Solar and Peter Greenberg of Energy Wise Services.
There will be plenty of time for audience questions and discussion at this important community event. See you there!
