More than a hundred salt lakes dot Earth's surface, most of them hidden away in remote desert valleys. But today, nearly all of them are at risk of drying up. Their death is a harbinger of rising sea levels, life-threatening dust storms, and environmental collapse.
Join us for an event in which author Caroline Tracey describes her travels across four continents to seek out and describe these extraordinary vanishing lakes and the people dedicated to saving them.
Caroline will be in Corvallis on Thursday, April 16, to share these discoveries from her new book
Salt Lakes: An Unnatural History. Free and open to all! Please join us in the Toomey Lobby of PRAx at 5:30 p.m. She'll be in conversation with fellow author Michelle Nijhuis, whose book
Beloved Beasts received wide praise.
This event is presented by the Spring Creek Project and OSU's Center for the Humanities. Grass Roots Books will be on hand with copies of Caroline's book for sale.
