Buy Local First challenge is coming this fall - An invitation to get involved!

Dear Friends of Sustainability,
The Corvallis Sustainability Coalition and the Corvallis Independent Business Alliance (CIBA) are joining forces to initiate a community-wide challenge to Buy Local First!
- The Buy Local First challenge will be launched this fall as the kick-off for an ongoing Buy Local First campaign.
- It’s about encouraging Corvallis residents to first consider buying from a locally owned business before making a purchasing decision – and increasing the percentage of money spent locally in order to develop a healthy local economy.
- During the past several years, communities around the US have developed successful “buy local” campaigns. By looking at what others have done, we can learn from their experiences, add our own ideas, and create a campaign that is unique to Corvallis.
We invite you to join us in planning an exciting challenge that will engage all sectors of our community!

Since this is at the noon hour, light refreshments will be provided – local and organic, of course!
Please let me know by Wednesday, August 17, if you plan to attend. This will be an opportunity to find out what we mean by “local,” to brainstorm the possibilities, and to help with planning.
