Earth Day Jubilee at The Thyme Garden Brings Caring for the Earth Home
One important part of spring each year at The Thyme Garden is celebrating Earth Day. The focus of our work at the property has always been to care for the land and leave it better than when we found it. Each resource we use, each decision we make, is weighed against the environmental impacts it might have. We know that the Earth is our life force, our home, our Mother, and we strongly believe we must leave it healthy for future generations. The battle to preserve it seems like it has never been tougher.
This year we are excited to bring some truly wonderful organizations out to this space who are working just as hard as we are to preserve our land. From saving old growth trees on Marys’ Peak to caring for your own home through sustainable building and heating choices, these organizations represent ways we can live lighter as we take each step on our daily path.
The Thyme Garden Earth Day Jubilee brings a wonderful and nurturing energy to the garden as it emerges from winter. We sincerely hope you can join us!
Displays from these local organizations & businesses:
Coast Range Association (CRA) - Chuck Willer, Director of the CRA, will update us on the current forest management plans for our public forests and help us focus our energy to take action to protect this valuable resource. The CRA was the first organization in the U.S. to publish a bioregional conservation plan (1994). They have led on documenting forest ownership and the socioeconomic analysis of the timber industry. Did you know that local federal forests are the No. 1 carbon volume forests in the whole country? The CRA has been in the forefront of public interest advocacy for our world-class forests. Currently, all three major public forestland owners, the BLM, the Forest Service and the State of Oregon, are working on new management plans. The CRA is deeply involved in all three planning efforts. The Thyme Garden Earth Day celebration is a great opportunity to hear the latest news
