“How Misinformation Distorts Elections:
The Role of Local Journalism”

YOU are invited to a special program on Wednesday, August 19, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library, 645 NW Monroe Avenue. This is the first of a 3-part pre-midterm election series titled “Truth, Trust, and Democracy: Information, Elections, and Voter Confidence”, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Corvallis and co-sponsored by the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.

Panelists will include Penny Rosenberg, former editor of the Corvallis Gazette-Times who is now an investigative reporter with the Oregon Journalism Project; Steve Schultz, editor and publisher of The Corvallis Advocate; Dan Crall, station manager of KORC; and Jim Rondeau, station manager of KLCC.

Following an initial series of questions posed by the League, audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions of the panelists. The program will also include a chance for attendees to participate in small group discussions in response to what they’ve heard. Light refreshments will be served.

The goal of the “Truth, Trust, and Democracy” series is to increase voter confidence, clarity, and informed participation. The other two programs in the series will be on September 16 and October 21. For further details, visit https://lwvcorvallis.org

We look forward to seeing you there!
