On the third Thursday of each month, Willamette Riverkeeper (in collaboration with Corvallis Parks & Recreation) invites volunteers to get out on the water and collect trash from the banks of the Willamette and Marys Rivers. Both of these waterways are listed as impaired for aquatic trash pollution under the federal Clean Water Act, and there is a continuous inflow of garbage which directly harms our local aquatic ecosystems. With just a small team of volunteers, we are able remove several hundred pounds of garbage from the river each month, creating a direct benefit for the health, safety, and beauty of the Corvallis riverfront.
Registration for our April 16th cleanup is
now available online; please sign up now if you would like to help us make a difference! Volunteers can bring their own boats or reserve a seat in our raft or kayaks -- no previous paddling experience required.
We hope to see many of you out there on the water throughout these coming months!
