You are invited to the second Neighborhood Bikeway Prioritization Open House!

Join the City of Corvallis and DKS Associates staff for an open discussion on the preliminary concept designs for the top 5 Neighborhood Bikeways on Tuesday, July 28th, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library (645 NW Monroe Avenue).

Neighborhood Bikeways aim to prioritize people and provide low-stress routes for people traveling by foot or wheel, while still accommodating motor vehicle traffic and on-street parking. The first phase of the project looked at the City’s remaining 11 Neighborhood Bikeway projects identified in the City's Transportation System Plan and prioritized the top 5 projects. The next phase focuses on developing conceptual designs and costs to help speed up future build outs.

There will be no set presentation for the event—come and go as you please. We hope to see you there!

Can’t make it to the in-person event? Participate in the online Open House between July 27 and August 10.

Here is the direct link to the online open house with the intro pages and the specific bikeway design pages. https://dks-engage.com/corvallis-neighborhood-bikeway-prioritization-project

I'm happy to see this project move forward, and I'm happy to see some great elements in the bikeway designs. Really happy.

I cannot attend the in-person open house tomorrow. Here are a few things I would share with the consultants and city staff to improve the final work product:
  • The same 5 bikeways prioritized, the same 5 which were identified in the preliminary assessment.  Was there any consideration from the community feedback about which bikeways would be prioritized?  Upping priority of the N/NE Corvallis bikeway, lowering the 27th bikeway, and did any bicyclists really want Madison prioritized, or was that directed by some other factor?
  • Alignments.  The alignment of the 27th bikeway taking a jog over to 25th, instead of on 29th. The Madison alignment with a counterflow.  Some of these alignment choices are not ideal. Were there any changes from the 2018 TSP and realignment considerations from the first Open House?
  • Connections to downtown: A missing segment between the 16th bikeway and the 11th bikeway on Monroe. See that gaping hole??? How are cyclists expected to bridge that gap to get downtown?  Is anything planned for Monroe?
