There is no option for that (parking garage) for several reasons.
1. There was a Downtown Parking Task Force that has already run its course, leading to results that address parking in the downtown core. There is a city web page for that if you want to read more. The members of the Downtown Vitality Strategy Task Force declined to address parking because the work of the Parking Task Force did not need to be re-done. More information can be found here:
2. Data collected by experts and reviewed by the city (and the parking task force) shows there is an abundance of parking in the downtown area, but poor management of same and the result creates a problem. This problem has been identified (see entry #1) and should be addressed starting in 2026. Again, there is more information on the city website.
3. The cost of a parking garage is much higher than most people realize, and as the city has enough parking there is no reason to take on that cost.
