Would you like to help create the next generation of bike riders who don't need to rely on parents nor a polluting vehicle to get them around town?
Would you like to empower kids with freedom to come and go when they need, without waiting ½ hour for the bus?
Bike Safety Education is starting again in the Corvallis School District, and it's sure to be a rewarding experience for everyone.  Some older kids don't even know how to ride a bike, because they never got the chance to learn.  You can make a huge difference!
You can help:
*  during PE class by supervising riders on activity courses or helping kids learn to balance on a bike
*  with Friday after-school bike maintenance sessions
*  by riding with kids on a scheduled neighborhood training trip    OR
*  by joining work parties to prepare bikes for programs or seasonal storage

If you're interested and would like to be put on the “potential volunteer list,” please email Cassie (copied above) or update your school district profile to now include “Bike Safety Education.”  (Their computer program is inefficient and frustrating, so I suggest just emailing Cassie.)
Thank you for increasing our kids' freedom and decreasing pollution.

I appreciate the sharing of information about the Corvallis Schools Bicycle Education program. I have volunteered for this for years. The Friday community rides are a great way to practice the rules of the road that the kids have learned - and these rely on volunteers. Last year the program expanded to include kids in other grades, even kids who are just learning to ride.
Please remember that the name of the program is Bicycle Education. We deliberately don’t use the word safety because it implies that bicycling is dangerous. Bicycling is empowering and FUN!
Thanks,
Laura Duncan

Do you know how GREAT it is when a 3rd grader triumphantly shouts, "I did it!  Now I know how to ride a bike!  Can you send a picture to my mom and grandma?"  I experienced this the other week.

Would you like to help create the next generation of bike riders who don't need to rely on parents nor a polluting vehicle to get them around town?

Would you like to empower kids with freedom to come and go when they need, without waiting ½ hour for the bus?
Mountain View Elementary (340 NE Granger Ave., 2 miles N of Corvallis City Limits) needs volunteers.  Your commitment can be as little as 45 minutes, sometime between May 29 to June 11.

You can make a huge difference!

You can help Corvallis School District:

*  during PE class by supervising riders on activity courses or helping kids learn to balance on a bike (Mountain View in May and June)

*  with an after-school bike maintenance session on Thursday, June 5 (Mountain View)     OR

Thank you for increasing our kids' freedom and exercise options, and decreasing pollution.
