Greetings everyone,
Benton County Board of Commissioners is having a goal-setting work session tomorrow starting at 9am. First on the agenda is Edge Lane Road (ELR) striping configuration for Oak Creek Drive!

If you'd like more meeting info or like to attend in person or via their zoom link, you can find all that here:

Does ELR sound familiar? Just in case, here's a reminder from the TAT notes in June 2022:
"Special guest Dan Rosenberg presented his talk Edge Lane Road Design for Upper Oak Creek Drive...ELRs usually are implemented on two-lane low-traffic streets that are too narrow for dedicated sidewalks or bike lanes. ELR design provides cyclists and pedestrians a designated lane on each side of the street and drivers share a single center lane. When drivers need to pass each other, they slow down and use part of the advisory lanes. Bicyclists and pedestrians have the right-of-way. Edge lane roads lead to lower vehicle speeds. This design has been implemented in Portland and Port Townsend and increasingly across the country. Dan and the Oak Creek Drive community would like to do a pilot study of an ELR on upper Oak Creek Drive, which has no sidewalks, narrow shoulders, and no bike lanes."

Cheers, Steve
