Hi, Land Use Action Team members,

Please take a few minutes prior to Monday’s meeting to read the following message from Planning Commissioner Roberta Smith. For your convenience, she has created a link to the Climate-Friendly Area that is being proposed to the City Council (a one-page map).

Thanks,

Annette

Upcoming: May City Council Public Hearing

In May the City Council will conduct a public hearing to consider adoption of legislative amendments to the Official Zoning Map, Comprehensive Plan Text, and Land Development Code (LDC) Text related to the adoption of a Climate-Friendly Area (CFA) in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) 660-012-0310 through -0325 (“CFA Rules”).

View the proposed CFA here

The proposed amendments will achieve the following outcomes:

  • Create a new CFA Overlay Zone meeting the requirements of the CFA Rules, which will be applied to an area along NW 9th Street
  • Establish an Administrative Zone Change process to allow owners of certain properties to request a zone change from RS-12 (Medium Density Residential) or RS-20 (High Density Residential) to Residential Mixed Use 12 or 20 (RMU-12 or RMU-20)
  • Miscellaneous minor modifications and LDC clean-up

On April 2, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the amendments.

Please use the link above to check out the map of a CFA along 9th street.  Only 2 areas were found to meet the state standards re: size/existing buildable lands (the other was the downtown area (@Willamette to 9th).

Bring questions

Roberta Smith
