Notes from the meeting.

1. Alexis had a last minute conflict, and his discussion on middle housing, state rule making, and opportunities for education and action was deferred to the January 12 meeting.

2. A brief discussion occurred relative to a related topic on Block Perimeter Standards. Daniel suggested that LUAT members may want to review https://www.corvallisoregon.gov/cd/page/middle-housing-code-update-project,

and attend the Planning Commission meeting, Wednesday, December 16, 2020 - 6:30 pm

LUAT  members who would like to watch and/or participate in the meeting live on the internet may pre-register using this link.

3. Annette and Laurie led discussion on the LUAT plan and timeline for Council parking presentations. Andrew prepared a draft table of topics (below) with room for a timeline. The topic titles are abbreviated and the timeline is to be determined. Adding “affordable housing” as a topic was suggested.

Annette will head a subcommittee of Andrew, Laurie, and Susan to flesh out the topics and timeline. The subcommittee will organize the presentations in a framework that gives a logical thread about the big picture for Corvallis parking and decide the most effective scheduling.  The subcommittee will report at the next meeting and may share results of their discussions via email. Presentations may also have relevance to state rule making. middle housing, housing affordability, mixed use, and parking requirements.

Laurie emphasized that the ArcGIS that she and Susan Jarvis are preparing to show the LUAT might be an effective tool for engaging the public in parking concepts and discussions.

Susan Salafsky suggested that in preparing presentations, we should work to make the point personal to our audience and that 500 Women Scientists might be a venue for a more scientific discussion of parking issues and solutions.

3. Laurie reported on the coalition leaders retreat Dec 3 that focused on increasing diversity, inclusion, and social justice in action team projects. This may be a topic for a future meeting.

As always, thanks for the follow up, Court, and being such a good leader for LUAT. I just wanted to update you all that I am thankfully Covid negative and feeling better this week. I look forward to seeing you all in January and reviewing (the now finalized) HB 2001 rules for Corvallis!

As Annette just forwarded everyone, the Sightline article is a great primer for that discussion!

Best
