The Planning Commission makes very important decisions that have a huge impact on wildlife habitat/sprawl, extreme climate, local downtown businesses, how safe it is to bike or walk, if new developments are put in smart locations that are good for efficient bus routes, and more.

The Planning Commission was instrumental in recently deciding that Marriott Hotel couldn't wipe out three downtown buildings (including the bike repair shop "Cyclotopia" that Marriott Hotel evicted) so Marriott could build another parking lot.

Please consider helping our community very effectively by serving on the Planning Commission.  The meetings are conducted online and you don't need any experience.  You just need to be able to read information and constructively listen to other people.  (See City's email below.)

Thank you,

The City of Corvallis Invites Applications for an Upcoming Planning Commission Vacancy

Advisory board members in a meeting

The City of Corvallis seeks input and advice from the public through a network of policy advisory boards and task forces, operational committees and work groups, and commissions. Participants are typically community members interested in making an impact on a particular policy topic or area of service. Time commitments vary, from policy boards that meet monthly on long-term policy topics, to short-term task forces that work regularly for a few months on a specific issue and then conclude their work.

These advisory groups are just one aspect of the City's commitment to the full spectrum of public participation, as outlined in the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation.

Ready to Apply?

In general, volunteers must reside in Corvallis or be employed or self-employed full time in Corvallis. Some advisory groups have additional qualifications, which are specified within the application.
