SAT, JUNE 1 (9 am)
OLD PEAK MEADOW OXEYE DAISY WEED PULL
Join IAE and the City of Corvallis at the Old Peak meadow in the Marys Peak Watershed for an important oxeye daisy pull to restore meadow habitat. Old Peak has a diversity of native plants and wild birds—this is a great opportunity to see one of Oregon’s hidden treasures, meet new friends, and help preserve a truly unique ecosystem. Removing non-native species is critical for the preservation and maintenance of this special place. All tools and instructions are provided. All volunteers must complete IAE’s volunteer release form.

NATIONAL TRAILS DAY WORK PARTY AT BALD HILL

Join Greenbelt staff and fellow volunteers for a trail work party at Bald Hill on National Trails Day – just one day before the annual Run For the Hills race hosted by the Heart of the Valley Runners at Bald Hill. Help us get the trails ready for race day and for a summer of hikers and runners! This work party will focus on hiking the course and removing brush that has grown into the trails.

Move in your own way to a rhythmic flow of music from around the world and across the decades.
7 – 7:30 pm live-music journey featuring renowned harpist Laura Zaerr and cellist Sabina Monn. They play with George Beekman in the world music band Compass Rose and will provide a musical backdrop for warming up, stretching, dancing, or just listening. Oregon Vesper Sparrows use grassland habitats like the pastures and prairies of Bald Hill Farm, and their numbers are in decline due to lack of suitable habitat. Ornithologist Bob Altman and Greenbelt Land Trust Wildlife Technician Lisa Millbank will lead an informative talk about the sparrow, current research, and how we are working to provide the habitat it needs at Bald Hill Farm, and then we’ll take a walk to see what we are doing and, hopefully, see some birds as well!
