INTERACT 2021 Workshop on Human-centred Technology for Sustainable Development Goals: Challenges and Opportunities - HCT4SDG
https://lifes.dc.ufscar.br/HCT4SDG/
We invite researchers and practitioners aiming at actively contributing to Sustainable Development and engaging with discussions on the state-of-the-art of human-centred technology for sustainability to join us at the INTERACT Workshop Human-centred Technology
for Sustainable Development Goals: Challenges and Opportunities - HCT4SDG (
https://lifes.dc.ufscar.br/HCT4SDG/).
The workshop is supported by the IFIP Working Group 13.10 on Human-Centred Technology for Sustainability.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by the United Nations (UN) Members calls for global partnerships to achieve significant advances on fairness and prosperity on the planet. It includes equal access to, and management of resources such as water,
energy, climate, oceans, urbanisation, transport, science and technology. These themes are addressed as a set of 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs (
https://sdgs.un.org/goals).
Addressing technology design for sustainable development goals with a human-centred approach demands rethinking the way technological solutions are developed and consumed, considering the situated design solutions and their impact on the social, economic, and
environmental aspects. It should be taken by designers as an opportunity to establish a bridge between real life, with its inequalities and injustices, and the ideal world.
OBJECTIVE
With this broad perspective of “sustainability” in mind, the objective of this workshop is to build an agenda that aims to define challenges and opportunities for the design of interactive technologies that address one or more SDGs with a holistic view.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- IoT and smart communities
- Environmental monitoring
- Design solutions that support sustainable behaviour
- Green computing
- Ethical aspects of green computing
- Equality and fairness in access to technology
- Sustainable design
- Design for sustainability
Participants will be invited to generate and share ideas, to collectively build a map of challenges and opportunities that will lead to a joint publication. As travelling may not be possible for everyone, online participation is welcome.
SUBMISSIONS
Prepare a motivation paper describing your approach to design technology aimed at advancing society towards one or more Sustainable Development Goals, by addressing related challenges and/or opportunities. Please prepare your submissions in the Springer LNCS
format - max of 6 pages, using the templates provided for CS Proceedings and other Multi-author Volumes (
