Subject: [Systers] Senior Java/Grails Engineer - green tech startup in SF Bay Area
To:
syster...@systers.orgHi Fellow Systers,
A friend of mine is looking for some developers and QA folks.
Great Company...Read below to apply.
Kathy
We are looking for extraordinary software developers to help solve climate
change – and turn a profit.
Carbonflow is a VC funded cleantech startup. We apply web technology to
speed the creation and selling of carbon offsets, and so help tackle climate
change. Our patent-pending, cross-organization, multi-party service
accelerates all phases of a carbon reduction project from idea through
registration, operation, verification and contracting and trading offsets.
In 2009 the global market for carbon credits was $144B. We are headquartered
in San Francisco with offices on 4 continents.
We develop in leading-edge technologies: cloud computing, Grails, HTML5 and
off-line web applications. We believe in agile development, and have been
releasing regularly since December 2008. Our software stack is all
open-source – Linux, Apache, MySQL, JBoss/Jetty, Grails, Java, Spring,
Hibernate, HTML5. Our deployment environment is Amazon EC2 and S3.
What you will do
- Build and own critical parts of our software applications.
- Hard-core coding and software design
- Work closely with our CTO and the rest of the development team
This position will give you a lot of freedom to design and code to your own
high standard, and to grow your software career at our company as the carbon
markets take off.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a smart adaptable engineer to join our small, but
talented, team. We care more about the right team fit, passion for our
mission, and desire to code, than a particular number of years of
experience. So, if you meet the following, please apply.
- Extensive Java web application development experience. Grails would be
a plus.
- Strong object oriented design and development skills.
- Full software life-cycle development – from design through testing in
an agile, test-focused environment.
- Experience of building and supporting scalable, high-quality web
applications with open source technologies.
- Experience developing workflow or financial applications would be a
bonus.
- Good at solving problems and thinking creatively.
You are excited by Web technology & experienced in developing in it.
You are turned on by the idea of working for a start-up – getting in on the
ground floor, and having a real role in shaping our products.
