We hope you are enjoying the early summer sunshine as much as we are! We’ve got some great outdoor events coming up, and hope you’ll join us. As always, we will start with a potluck, so feel free to bring some snacks or a drink to share, as well as your own reusable utensils and plates.

July 4th Community Picnic in Cal Anderson July 4, 12:00p-5:00p Cal Anderson Park
What better way to celebrate summer than with a picnic in the park? At this year's annual picnic, Sustainable Capitol Hill will be promoting the Tool Library Planning and the Capitol Hill Fruit Harvest by building a solar oven and using it to cook some gleaned fruit into jam. We will also have other fun activities, such as our popular spin art bicycle, as well as diy soda can camping stoves. Please bring an empty, uncrushed soda can if you’d like to make a stove.

Have you ever needed a tool for one quick and simple project, and didn't want to buy it? Or what about a really expensive tool that you just can't afford? Ice cream makers, food dehydrators, multimeters, and more: Tool Library to the rescue! Join us as we plan to build our own tool library in Capitol Hill! We need your help to make it happen!
We'll be working through our large list of things to do, including grant research and marketing opportunities. Also, if you are a handy fixer type, we are planning some pop up fixers’ collectives, and we need your help!
We will be having meetings once a month, usually on the second Tuesday of the month. Please email us if you’re interested, even if you can’t make the meeting!
We'd love to have you join us with your ideas and your energy!
*There are two doors, so make sure you go to the 1410 door, where you can get buzzed in (there will be a sign at the door with instructions).

Fruit Gleaning July through September Various locations around Capitol Hill
Sustainable Capitol Hill is now helping to organize fruit gleaning in the Capitol Hill area. The fruit will be donated to food banks. This program needs both donors, who have trees with fruit they are willing to donate, and volunteers, who go to various donor houses to collect the fruit, to be successful. If you fall into either of these categories, please email us, and we’ll contact you about further involvement.
Our official August event will be a gleaning event, but we will have many other gleanings throughout the summer.

Fruit Tree Gleaning
We’ll be having quite a few gleaning events over the course of the summer. Email us to get on a separate volunteer list

Tabling
SCH is planning on tabling at a few coming events, including July 4^th, farmers markets on Sundays on Broadway, and Parking Day on September 19^th, and we could use your help! Email if you’d like to get involved.
