Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season, and are looking forward to the new year! Coming up, we’ve got some fun events, all at our generous host, Electric Tea Garden, 1402 E. Pike St. As always, we will start with a potluck, so feel free to bring some snacks or a drink to share, as well as your own reusable utensils and plates.

January 7, 6:30p

Alternative Economies and a Holiday Gift swap: Professor Don Comstock will be discussing economics, the financial crisis, and how all of our current crises are intertwined. Don’t worry, it won’t be a lecture! More of a talk, so bring your questions! After the talk (which should last about 20-30 minutes), we will swap gifts we got over the holidays that aren’t our style.  Bring those funky sweaters your Aunt Flo got you, or those hoop earrings you would never wear, and swap them with your neighbors, and maybe we’ll all go home with something we can use!

February 4, 6:30p

Fermentation Fest: We will be learning to make kimchi, both the traditional buried form as well as the modern variation, and pickles, both quick and fermented.  We will have some samples on hand to try, so please bring a fork and bowl!

March 4, 6:30p

Book Swap Social: Time for a little fun!  Let’s get together, swap books and make friends.  We’ll have an acoustic jam session, too, so bring your instruments and your dancing shoes!

And if you guys have any ideas for future events you’d like to see happen, or would like to get involved in planning, feel free to email here, or join our planning group, which meets briefly after every event.
