Spring is in the air already! We have some amazing news to share regarding the Capitol Hill Tool Library, as well as a few fun events coming up. As always, our events are free to all (though donations are welcome) and start with a potluck to meet our neighbors. Feel free to bring some snacks or a drink to share, as well as your own reusable utensils and plates.

Tool Library Building |
| ||||
We have a location for the Capitol Hill Tool Library!!! The long search is finally over, thanks to the generosity of the First Covenant Church. It will be located at the Summit Building on 420 E. Pike St., with the entrance on Crawford Pl. We're planning to open by early Fall of this year with a local community of knowledgeable fixers, tool lending, and workshops, but we need your help! Join
our Tool Library Building Meetings on the 3rd Tuesdays of every month. The next meeting will be on February 17. We will also be taking membership pledges, as well as donations, so if you’d like to join our community, let us know! We'll be working through our large list of things to do, including designing our new space, finding fixers, grant research and applications, and marketing opportunities. Also, if you are a handy fixer type, we are planning some pop up fixers’ collectives, and we need your help! We will be having meetings once a month, usually on the third Tuesday of the month. We'd love to have you join us with your ideas and your energy! Please email us if you’re interested, even if you can’t make the meeting! Check out our website for more information. *There are two doors, so make sure you go to the 1410 door, where you can get buzzed in (there will be a sign at the door with instructions).

Time to start planning and planting your garden! Let's have a seed swap*. This will be a great chance to meet your neighbors, share a little gardening gossip, as well as prepare for spring planting. Bring your seeds, bring your catalogues, bring your gardening know-how and get excited about the new planting season!
* In case you don't know what a seed swap is, here is a quick rundown on what it entails - basically, bring your extra seeds, and switch with your neighbors, so you can have a vibrant variety of plants in your garden! Don't worry if you didn't save your own seeds; bought seed packets are welcome! Hey, don't even worry if you don't have ANY seeds: there will probably be extras to go around, plus there's no better time to go in with your neighbor on a catalog purchase.

Even if you can’t make our planning meeting, let us know if you’d like to get involved. Fixers for our fixers’ collective, tool donations, or membership pledges, the tool library is by the people, for the people!

We’ll be having quite a few gleaning events over the course of the summer. We need organizers, as well as fruit pickers and fruit tree owners donating fruit! Email us to get on a separate volunteer list.
Tabling |

SCH is planning on tabling at a few coming events, including farmers markets on Sundays on Broadway, and we could use your help! Email if you’d like to get involved.
