Hi Chantal!
The fall semester's going great! Thanks! How is everything with you?!
Yes, we do have the Surplus Grants, and applications for those are due on Friday, November 18. You can definitely apply for a greener Joey, though it may be something to lobby the administration to pay for, as well. But, yes, you are definitely welcome to apply. Here is the information and application I gave to the signatories about the grants.
Sincerely,
Christie

Dear Signatories,
At the end of each fiscal year, the money that TCU-funded groups do not spend goes into the TCU Surplus. At the end of Fiscal Year 2011, a large amount of the money budgeted was left unspent, and it is the feeling of the TCU Treasury that the students who paid the Student Activities Fee last year should benefit from the money that wasn't spent.
THEREFORE, THIS YEAR, WE WILL BE OFFERING THE TCU SURPLUS GRANT AGAIN, AS WELL AS THE TCU EVENT GRANT.
If you have creative ideas to help your group and the Tufts Community, we welcome you to apply for these grants. If you plan to apply for these grants, please attend at least one of the two TCU Grant meetings, which will be announced shortly.
Surplus Grant:
The Surplus Grant is for any student group (not necessarily TCU-funded) to request capital expenditures (vans, bikes, laser cutters, facility improvement) to improve student life on the Hill.
The application for the TCU Surplus Grant will be due November 18 and will be voted on by the Senate on December 4.
Please attach a document justifying the project and a budget including multiple price quotes for all line items.
All proposals must be one-time capital expenditures that will last a minimum of five years.
All expenditures must be proposed by an established student organization.
All proposals should benefit the greater Tufts community.
All expenditures must be able to be purchased or completed before the start of the next Academic Year.
No project should exceed $100,000.
Event Grant:
The Event Grant is for any TCU-funded group to either increase the size of one of their popular annual events or to create a new event they feel would benefit the greater Tufts community.
The first round of applications will be due November 11 and will be voted on by the Senate on November 20.
The second round of applications will be due February 3 and will be voted on by the Senate on February 12.
Please attach a document justifying the event and a budget including all line items. If the event is already in your group's budget, please submit a request detailing ALL expenses (budgeted or not) for this event, and the Senate will then automatically subtract the amount you were already budgeted from the total amount requested.
The request must be submitted by a TCU-funded group or a combination of groups to host one of more new events held with the purpose of increasing school spirit and involvement in campus activities.
All proposals should benefit the greater Tufts community.
All requests should be to host events for 50 or more people not involved in the group sponsoring the event.
All events funded by the Event Grant must be free for all Tufts students.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, please e-mail me at Christie.M...@tufts.edu<mailto:Christie.M...@tufts.edu>.
I will also be holding additional office hours to discuss these grants, which will be announced shortly.
Sincerely,
Christie
