Hi Katie,
SAS (Sustainable Action Squad) is really into this idea and we'd love to help. However, we have some questions we should answer first before we move ahead with a proposal. How involved would you like to be in the process? We think it would be a good idea to have a few members of SAS and you meet with Patti Klos from Dining Services to discuss if this is a feasible idea. Let us know if you are interested. You could even come to our next meeting to discuss it further.
Thanks!

Hey!
Thanks for sending this. It's a really cool idea, and hopefully we'll be able to do something with it. I'll bring it up with TSC and/or SAS.

Hi Katie,
Thanks for the idea! I love it! Unfortunately, I don't think Eco Reps have the time or the resources to take on this project this semester, but there is a branch of TSC, the sustainanability action squad, that takes on a new project each semester or each year and I think this is right up their alley. I'm CCing Katie Segal, who is one of the presidents of TSC. Katie (Segal), I can't find the contact information for SAS, but can you forward this on to the appropriate person? Thanks!
Best,
Rachael

Hey Girl,
Happy New Year/Welcome Back!
Ok, so I am writing this now cause once I get lost in the swing of the semester, I'll totally forget but I wanted to share this really practical eco idea I had that I dont know how to make happen, but I would totally be on board to help do it:
Fact: At the end of the night Carm & Dewick throw away so much food and produce because they have to.
Idea: During the last fifteen minutes of dining hall open-hours or right as it's closing, upperclassman (or anyone) could be allowed to go into the dining halls, for free, with their own tupperware and take all the food they want/can that would otherwise go to waste.
Benefit: Food is not being wasted! YAY!
Additional Ideas:
* It would be monitored and limited by Eco-reps to ensure "order"
* Dewick/Carm could charge $2 per person allowed in for an extra few bucks
* It could be a select 10-15 people/seniors chosen/raffled/invited in for this (that way dining hall employees aren't overwhelmed with a ton of people RUSHING for the food at the end of the day)
* Maybe eco-reps or senate leaders could be the ones to go into the Dining Hall (with giant borrowed tupperwares) and take all the food to a set location (i.e. conference room in the campus center) and it could be advertised so Tufts student will know to show up there and can get it there, that way the dining hall can't pull the argument of "it could be messy, and it would take more time on their part."
* It could start once a week as a trial period and then increase from there if its easy enough.
People to talk to: Dining Services Manager, Tufts Eco-Staff....
Thoughts? I'm not sure the way to go about this, but I'd love to see it happen and/or help make it happen!
:) Katie
