Encraft’s Building Physics practice would like to invite you to our Passivhaus Conference on 30th May 2014 in Birmingham. The event, featuring some of the leading speakers and projects in this emerging area, is supported by Climate KIC, Passivhaus Trust and Passive House Plus magazine.

Passivhaus, the fastest growing energy performance standard in the world, combines principles of excellent thermal performance, exceptional airtightness with controlled ventilation. In the UK itself, the adoption of Passivhaus is rapidly growing – with over 250 buildings completed and certified at the end of 2013, and a significant number in the process of being completed. To look at this emerging area in-depth, Encraft are pleased to be organising a day-long conference in Birmingham.

Who is this conference for: Primarily housing, construction and built environment development (including sustainability and planning) professionals representing Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) and Local Authorities (LAs). If you work in housing, either new build or retrofit, have heard of Passivhaus but not sure if it is the right standard for your organisation or project, and want to know more, then this is the conference for you. You will hear first-hand, the experiences, successes and challenges faced by people in similar job roles within similar organisations; understand why they have chosen Passivhaus for one or more of their schemes, and how they have made the business case for this internally. Consultants, architects, academics, contractors, surveyors and suppliers interested in Passivhaus are also welcome to attend. There will be significant opportunities to network at this event.

Themes covered include: Passivhaus Overview and Certification, Why opt for Passivhaus: Perspectives from RSLs and LAs, Funding Models for Passivhaus; Whole-life costs of Passivhaus projects, and Avoiding potential pitfalls of Passivhaus. Short case-study presentations from a variety of UK Passivhaus projects (new build and retrofit) would be featured at this event.
