Daimler-Benz introduces a wood gas generator for the 170 V passenger car. It weighs only 70 kg, costs 800 Reichsmarks, can be installed in one day and gives the car a range of 100 to 130 kilometres on one 24 kg load of charcoal. By November 1944 more than 6,400 units are produced at the Gaggenau plant.

The 2023 MB GLC SUV comes powered by a 2-liter Inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This hybrid system generates a net horsepower of 255 hp and a torque of 295 lb-ft. With these specifications, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph. The 2023 MB GLC SUV delivers an additional power of 23 hp and torque of 148 lb-ft through its electric starter generator. This feature helps the SUV achieve a better fuel economy rating while providing a smoother drive.

They also get a 48-volt belt-driven starter generator (RSG) that replaces the traditional start motor and generator (commonly referred to as an alternator). The more powerful setup compared to a conventional starter motor makes the engine start more smoothly, which is important for start-start applications. The RSG can also aid the engine during high-load situations and can recapture engine more efficiently. It also enables coasting with the engine switched off.

As mentioned earlier, the 6-cylinder engines adopt an inline-6 configuration, with a 3.0-liter displacement. They also benefit from electric compressors and an integrated starter generator (ISG). Audi was the first with an electric compressor, launching the technology in 2016 in the SQ7 TDI. Electric compressors, as the name suggests, rely on an electric motor to spin a compressor wheel and help supply boost pressure for turbocharged engines at low rpm. The electric compressor accelerates to 70,000 rpm within 300 milliseconds, ensuring an extremely spontaneous reaction from the engine. The result is strong engine response with no turbo lag.

The ISG is similar to the RSG but even more powerful. Instead of a standard starter and generator, the ISG replaces these with a single, powerful starter generator sandwiched between the engine and transmission. The starter generator can now assist the internal combustion engine, for example when moving off the line or under high-load situations, and under braking it can recover energy. This recovered energy can be used not only for aiding acceleration but also to power ancillary features such as the air conditioner, engine cooling systems, and in-car entertainment systems.

Scaling of quantum computers to fault-tolerant levels relies critically on the integration of energy-efficient, stable, and reproducible qubit control and readout electronics. In comparison to traditional semiconductor-control electronics (TSCE) located at room temperature, the signals generated by rf sources based on Josephson-junctions (JJs) benefit from small device sizes, low power dissipation, intrinsic calibration, superior reproducibility, and insensitivity to ambient fluctuations. Previous experiments to colocate qubits and JJ-based control electronics have resulted in quasiparticle poisoning of the qubit, degrading the coherence and lifetime of the qubit. In this paper, we digitally control a 0.01-K transmon qubit with pulses from a Josephson pulse generator (JPG) located at the 3-K stage of a dilution refrigerator. We directly compare the qubit lifetime T 1, the coherence time T 2 * , and the thermal occupation P th when the qubit is controlled by the JPG circuit versus the TSCE setup. We find agreement to within the daily fluctuations of 0.5 μs and 2 μs for T 1 and T 2 * , respectively, and agreement to within the 1% error for P th. Additionally, we perform randomized benchmarking to measure an average JPG gate error of 2.1 10-2. In combination with a small device size (

Issue:
On certain vehicles, the cable duct under the starter-generator may not be properly attached. As a result, the wiring harness could contact the transmission carrier. If this happens, the wiring could short circuit.
