Looking to buy a laser engraver and cutter for wood, acrylic, or even metal? xTool is theperfect choice for any of your laser cutting and engraving needs. We offer CO2 and diode laser engravers and laser cutting machines with high working speed and mighty cutting power.

I got the 40-watt laser engraver for some more power and versatility. Plus, the xTool S1 laser engraver is a fully enclosed diode laser system and that design will be very helpful as I ramp up production for more laser-engraved products.

The xTool S1 is packed really well. The outer shipping box had some rips and dents, but since the packing materials were so well done inside the box, the laser engraver was in absolutely pristine condition.

There are two large velcro straps around the entire machine. These are great because the xTool S1 is a pretty heavy unit. You simply grab the two straps and lift the entire machine out of the box. You may want to have another person around to hold the outer shipping box to make it a bit easier for you.

The xTool P2 is a powerful desktop 55W CO2 laser cutter from the Chinese-based xTool brand, well-known for its diode laser cutters and the CO2 Laserbox. The latest P2 model is a notable step forward, as the machine has adopted a number of smart features and technologies compared to the rest of the xTool lineup and many competitors in the market. It is definitely ready to take your art to the next level.

Equipped with a powerful 55W CO2 laser tube, the xTool P2 boasts ultra-high absorption efficiency compared to diode lasers and can cut an 18-mm walnut or a 20-mm clear acrylic plate in one pass. Its sturdy all-metal chassis and high-quality motor allow for a maximum speed of engraving of 600 mm/s. Combined with a large working area and capability of engraving multiple objects, this ensures utmost efficiency of your engraving business with the xTool P2 model.

The xTool P2 features two 16-megapixel cameras, a panoramic one for a live preview of the entire working area, and a close-range camera for a precise view of a particular spot with a vision precision of 0.3 mm. The camera is also used to detect the shapes of multiple similar objects placed on the bed surface, and apply a selected design pattern to all of them, thus allowing fast batch engraving. With the xTool P2, object shapes that can be engraved are not limited to only flat ones. Automatic surface scanning and 3D model building allow it to engrave on curved surfaces with auto focal length adjustment. And the use of an optional rotary add-on further extends creative opportunities with curved surface engraving on cylinders, spheres, and rings. The machine is equipped with a pass-through slot for processing extra-large objects. With an optional Automatic Conveyor add-on, the maximum working area can reach 3000 x 500 mm.

The xTool P2 laser cutter and engraver is a highly versatile machine, capable of cutting a wide range of materials, including paper, wood, acrylic, leather, cardboard, MDF, felt, rubber, bamboo, fabric. It can engrave on glass, ceramic, jade, marble, shale, cement, brick, coated metal, anodized aluminum, and more.

With the working bed dimensions of 680 x 360 mm, the xTool P2 laser engraver features a working area of 600 x 308 mm (26 x 14 inches), suitable for processing large-sized materials as well as for batch production. The maximum object height of 64 mm can be extended up to 71 mm if you remove the tray. And the optional riser base allows engraving on objects with a maximum height of 215 mm.

The xTool P2 55W CO2 laser cutter and engraver can be connected to a computer via Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet. Apart from this, the xTool P2 features intuitive controls and a number of automatic functions, such as autofocus adjustment, so even beginners can operate it with ease. There is a Start button on top of the device, and the Emergency stop switch is on the right-side panel.

The xTool P2 CO2 laser cutter and engraver works with the proprietary xTool Creative Space software compatible with Windows and macOS. It supports multiple file formats including SVG, DXF, PNG, JPG, and BMP and provides all the necessary tools for image design and editing as well as material parameters and machine control settings.

For more complicated projects, one can also use the LightBurn software which supports more file formats, such as AI, SVG, DXF, PDF, HPGL, and PLT for vector files and PNG, JPEG, BMP, TIFF, TGA, and GIF for raster images, and offers comprehensive design tools.

The xTool P2 55W CO2 laser cutter and engraver is an ideal choice for professional makers who want to start or expand their engraving business. The advantages of high speed, precision, large expandable working area and numerous smart features ensure high productivity and unlimited creative possibilities.

The xTool P2 Riser Base increases the maximum height of an object to be engraved up to 215 mm. The base is completely enclosed and ensures safe operation. It is compatible with the Automatic Conveyor and the RA2 rotary add-ons.

The Automatic Conveyor mechanism is used with an automatic passthrough function for long material boards and allows for automatic engraving path planning and material feeding. It ensures precise material positioning and eliminates inaccuracy usually caused by manual feeding. By combining the Basic kit containing two pairs of conveyor rails with three additional kits (each containing two pairs of rails), you can handle materials of up to 3 meters long. Note that the Automatic Conveyor add-on must be used with the Riser Base.

The xTool Smoke Purifier is connected to the machine and features a large, 250 x 195 x 390 mm, filter with three-stage filtration including activated carbon and HEPA filters. It efficiently absorbs dust particles, toxic fumes, and unpleasant odors, allows adjusting the suction power, and works very quietly, with the noise level not exceeding 55 dB.

Equipped with 5 fire detection sensors, the Fire Safety Set triggers the alarm as soon as it detects fire. A few seconds later, the smart switch shuts down the machine, and CO2 gas is pumped into the working area to extinguish fire and prevent possible damage to the machine.

Anyone with an online audience will frequently be asked to promote products. Nothing in business is free. Usually, the product offerings are inexpensive junk, and they request a video for YouTube. Rarely is that an even exchange. The value of online marketing is MUCH greater than the majority of products sent to media companies (JCC). However, in this case, not only does the value of the machine match the value of the exposure, but I am genuinely interested and excited about the product. With that said, I agreed to a three-video partnership with xTool to showcase their new P2 55w CO2 laser engraver.

The solution to this is the second camera. I like to use this camera to get a more precise location of the material corner so I can then place an accurate rectangle to let me know exactly where the material perimeter is.

There is no auto on/off for the smoke extractor. Festool dust extractors are known for their auto on/off feature. When you plug a tool into the extractor and turn it on the extractor automatically turns on. When you turn the tool off the extractor continues to run for a little bit to clear the dust in the line. I would love to see this feature implemented in the extractor. I found myself forgetting about it and letting it run wide open for no reason between jobs.

In my local area and friend circle, tumblers seem to be the most common laser engraved item. The optional rotary is used for that and so many other materials such as rings, coffee mugs, spheres, etc. The rotary can be used in a roller configuration for cylinders and in the chuck configuration for odd-shaped items. The rotary was the last item we set up, and we only had the chance to do one tumbler. Perfect results on the first try.

I was already making a few of these acrylic LED signs with a diamond drag bit on my CNC router. The workflow is so much easier on this laser and to speed up the process even more I made a hardboard template for the bed. Simply open the project file in the software and drag the new vector in place. I recommend making a physical and digital template like this for anything you make repeatedly.

Hardboard will also be handy for super inexpensive tests for ideas. Ideas where you might want to explore with good material but you want to get it done with cheap stuff first. Like this spirograph for my daughter.

My daughter wanted to be involved, so we cut a 3mm basswood rectangle. She told me to make it pretty around the edges, make it say welcome to school, and make it so I can hang it on my door. I think this flow of ideas to reality was a good intro to creating stuff.

If you have a lot of CAD experience with other software like VCarve Pro, SketchUp, SolidWorks, or Fusion360, maybe even Inkscape or Illustrator, you will feel like Creative Space is lacking in a few areas. With more complex designs, I routinely did all of the vector work in VCarve Pro and then saved and imported an updated svg.

The workflow learning curve is minimal, as my wife experienced. The software crashed on me once, but I was asking a lot with the complexity of the vectors I had loaded. And it is free software, after all.

The income potential lies in the hands of my wife. Her immediately taking interest and being able to pick up the workflow quickly was a pleasant surprise. She has started a business and is already fulfilling orders. More on that in video #3.

Hey Karl here. I am going to be sharing my experience with the xTool D1 Pro 20W. It is a 20W laser cutter/engraver with a 340x390mm working area. It has been heavily reviewed and I will comment on a few points I have not seen spoken about. I join a lot of Facebook groups for these reviews to get real-world feedback and ideas to write about. With nearly all forms of digital fabrication, I regularly read about misconceptions and frustration that stem from unknowingly purchasing a machine that requires a substantial amount of time and patience to learn.
