Anytime I try to use Netflix, a yellow bar appears that reads "Firefox is installing components needed to play the audio or video on this page. Please try again later." I have read that checking to see that if DRM is ticked. I have unticked and re-ticked that option and still nothing works. I try and see if Widevine Content is being installed. All it says, and it always says that it "..will be installed shortly". I have looked around and some people recommend to install Widevine manually, but it is confusing and the links don't work. Please help, I want to use Firefox since I get some weird lag on videos on Chrome.

hi, firefox will attempt to automatically download the file in the background from -cdm/4.10.1440.19-win-ia32.zip - the common reason for an error here is if you have a custom hosts file that blocks access to the gvt1.com domain or if your network traffic is intercepted (by security software for example).

I am not sure how I would go about finding the right file that blocks access to the gvt1.com. I use Advanced SystemCare as my Antivirus and computer care. So, could it possibly be ASC? Also, if anyone would know how I could go about fixing it through there if that is the problem.

PROBLEM SOLVED! There was something in my hosts file that was blocking it. It was something called "redirect.gvt1 .." something like that. I deleted that then restarted computer. And everything works fine!

In order to watch netflix with firefox under Ubuntu 18.04, you need to make sure that you have DRM enabled in your firefox settings (Go to settings, scroll down, check play drm-controlled content). Also make sure you have the libavcodec-extra package (from the universe repository) installed. In order to install libavcodec-extra you should have the universe repository enabled:

The issue is 32-bit Widevine not working on 64-bit Raspian. Here's a good thread about it, which suggest Google will release it in Q3 2022. Here's the official solution from Raspberry Pi, of how to install the 32-bit version of Chromium.

It seems to me that people should pull together and find a resolution for this... upstream will never really find a nice resolution, where would the money in that be? raspberrypi.stackexchange.com seems like the most logical place to pool information together on this topic.

Using the address bar of the supplied chromium, I goto chrome://components and don't see widevine. I need to know where the libraries that I just installed went. My thinking is that the library is somewhere other than where chromium is looking for it.

I seen somewhere that libwidevine only works on 32 bit. I flashed a different SD card using rpi-imager using the Official Raspberry PI OS (32) Desktop (Recommended) option. Plugged it into the raspi, let it update, then opened the console and sudo apt install libwidevinecdm0 when it was done, I opened the browser, and netflix works.

But netflix just works out of the box. No installing of plugins (wide vine) required, no reinstalling a 32-bit chrome on a 64-bit OS. Everything runs smooth, and the CPU stays at avg 30%, which is great.Compared to the previous 32-bit Raspberry PI, I don't see hiccups any more.

Is it possible to download and older version of Netflix? My toddler deleted Netflix off of our iPad mini and we can restore the app as the current version of Netflix is not compatible with the iOS on the mini.

Thanks Michel. I've got the same issue as the OP, I've got a spare first generation iPad, your workaround used to work BUT I believe Netflix have taken the older version off the Appstore since their 28 November 2018 update. I hope they just forgot to put it back on.

If you have a newer iDevice and downloaded the new version of Netflix, you go back to your older iPad, open the iOS App Store App. In the lower menu under purchased, tap and look for Netflix app in your list of purchased apps.

If the older versions of Netflix are still on the iOS App Store servers, you should get a pop-up message stating an older compatible version of the app is available for download and would you like to download it?

If you used my iTunes 12.6.5 method and were successful in downloading and installing iTunes 12.6.5, you then create a new iTunes library, log into the iOS App Store from within iTunes, using your Apple ID and password.

You need to download the newest version to a newer iDevice or download the newest version of the app from the iOS App Store using iTunes 12.6.5, first before attempting to download the older version of the app.

Hi there. I've got the same issue and just had a chat with Netflix; confirming my hunch that the older version of the Netflix iOS app is no longer available from the Appstore since their 28th November update. Shame because the older version was working perfectly just fine. In short, for now I hope, older iDevices won't work with Netflix anymore. Chat transcript below; also told Netflix that they should tell the customers that the older version is no longer available, save us the headache of trying to figure it out ourselves.

The version of Netflix that I still have on my other 2010 iPad running iOS 5.1.1 still works fine, it a bit slow with showing all of the movie/TV content. Otherwise, still streams fine from that 8-year old iPad.

Yes it looks like a problem of codecs if you use firefox, (in google chrome it is not a problem becouse it come with its own privative codecs) but in anyway you can install the codecs if you didnt install them before and you are using firefox in netflix, -US/quick-docs/assembly_installing-plugins-for-playing-movies-and-music/

If it does work only with to enable DRM so perfect. Remeber that if you have problems with others videos with firefox it can be a problem of codecs, in case you can install them like commented before. Cool you have your netflix working!.

We've installed the Deco P7 system in our home today, replacing two older routers. Everything works fine out of the box: Youtube, Twitch etc. But Netflix refuses to connect on phones, tablets and computers. We can't even open the Netflix website. Only when I set up a VPN connection can we get through. I have tried turning off the Anti-Virus options in the app to see if that somehow blocks it, but it doesn't help.

Edit: Changed a bunch of things, including switching to AP mode and turning off 5Ghz. Nothing helped. Put everything back the way it was and suddenly Netflix works. A mystery to me and quite annoying as I have no idea what originally caused this.

Edit2: As the Deco works with its own DHCP pool (and things like cameras, NAS etc were originally set to 192.168.1.xxx in our network) I tried changing it to AP mode again so I could use our base IP pool. Netflix stopped working on all devices immediately again and I for the life of me cannot make any sense of this. Changed the system back to Router mode again and we are back in business with Netflix. Ended up putting all our network devices in TP Link's IP pool now so everything at least works again.

If anybody can see any logic to the Netflix situation (again: both app and URL are blocked), then I would very much appreciate input. Completely unrelated probably but also annoying: my son is reporting significantly slower connections in his online games and more lag on his wired (!) connection. In the old situation he would be gaming around 20/25ms, but now it is close to 40ms with occassional spikes.

Something must have been issuing DHCP address when in AP mode? Another router? What is being handed out for DNS? Sometimes ISPs who are caching/colocating streaming services like Netflix will block other sources of the same data and non-local DNS servers can cause geolocation to give you the wrong service as local. Rare and obscure, but possible....

Yes, I do. We have a modem that is provided by our ISP, which is the main access point for our fiber optic network. Wifi is turned off on this. It has IP address 192.168.1.1 and issues DHCP addresses to the network in the 192.168.1.xxx range. In the old situation I had two separate routers (an Asus on the ground floor and a Linksys on the second floor) set up in bridge mode. They were both connected via wire to the base modem. Anything connected to them or to the base modem via a switch was issued a 192.168.1.xxx address.

When I purchased the Deco system I removed the two wireless routers and replaced them by the Deco system. First I tried to use it in AP mode, as that seemed like the best fit and easiest transitation. It did indeed distribute addresses in the 192.168.1.xxx range, but as described above Netflix did not work. Switching to normal mode makes the Deco dsitribute addresses from the 192.168.68.xxx pool, so indeed a second pool and not ideal.

Perhaps worth mentioning at this point two things I find strange: 1) I can't reach the base modem anymore through my browser, neither in AP nor in normal Deco mode. I really should try hooking my laptop up directly to the modem but it is difficult to reach and does not seem to be the bottle neck at the moment. 2) Any devices that are wire connected to our network are issues addresses from the 68-pool, so by Deco's DHCP-service. Is that normal when for instance the laptop and closest deco are both connected to a switch that is directly wire connected to the base modem?
