I hope you're enjoying your summer right now. Warm weather, fireworks and such in Vancouver. I just wanted to let you guys know about a few opportunities that are opening up in SUS for the next year. INTERIM SOCIAL COORDINATOR
SUS is looking for a creative individual to appoint as Interim Social Coordinator. The term will begin in August and end with the Fall Elections. The Interim Social Coordinator will help the executive committee plan the budget and goals for the upcoming year. He or she will participate in Imagine, Science Frosh and other first week activities. The Interim Social Coordinator will also organize at least one social event for September/October.
After the Fall Elections, the Social Coordinator will chair the Social Committee. This committee will plan and organize licensed and all-age events for Science Students throughout the year. The Social Coordinator will work with the rest of the executive to plan larger events such as Cold Fusion and the grad event.
Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and be willing to communicate with students, university administrators and outside contractors. They should be responsible individuals capable of working with minimal guidance. Leadership experience through clubs, student government or work is highly appreciated. Priority may be given to those familiar with licensing procedures and Serving It Right.

ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATOR
SUS is looking for applications for a position as the Elections Administrator for the upcoming Fall Elections. The Elections Administrator oversees the election process, which includes organizing of the Election All Candidates Meeting, setting up and enforcing the election guidelines, and overseeing the final ballot counting process. The time commitment will between the period of September 15th to October 9th, 2008. The Elections Administrator will also be tasked with managing the budget during the election period, as well as chairing an Election's Committee during the period.
We are looking for students with the following qualifications:
1) Strong public speaking and communication skills
2) Able to work independently while demonstrating considerable leadership aptitude.
3) Detailed oriented and responsible.
4) Past experience in a management/leadership position
Prior knowledge of how to work Gmail accounts and Google Documents is an asset.

BUILDING MANAGER
The Building Manager is an ex-officio position running from August 2008 to April 2009. He or she manages the Abdul Ladha Science Student Centre for use by science students and visitors. He or she will liaise with Plant Operations, Secure Access and the Faculty of Science to organize the building's maintenance. The Building Manager will be responsible for receiving and approving all booking requests in a timely fashion. He or she must maintain a budget and keep detailed records of all rentals. The Building Manager appoints the Building Management Commission and chairs its meetings. The Building Management Commission will approve pricing structures, schedules and building standards.
Applicants must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal guidance. They must be comfortable chairing a committee and delegating tasks. They should be familiar with working a budget and capable of keeping detailed records. Prior knowledge of Gmail accounts and Google Documents is essential.
