What method or methods is available to convert a dts wav to dts flac?
I have several albums in dts wav format. Some are individual song
files, and others are wav/cue combinations. I'd like to convert them
to flac format for tagging purposes. I looked at eac3to, but I get the
impression I'd need to install some third-party convertors & codecs,
most of which are not free.
Thanks,
-MrM

As pointed out by many, directly converting to flac using foobar
preserves the dts encoding. I had some issues due to a corrupt file -
should've explored further before posting. I'm just starting to
realize how powerful JRMC is on the conversion side, and will
experiment with that as well.
I recognize that dts is lossy. Still, a good hunk of my older files
are in dts format, so I take what I can get. Not trying to fool
anyone.
The size savings adds up for me, so it's worth using flac vs wav.
Cheers,
-MrM
If it's a .wav file, any free tool with a FLAC converter should do. Audiomuxer, Flac frontend, foobar2k...
Just don't expect the filesize to shrink. As you are aware, the advantage of dts.wav--> .flac is in being able to tag the files. (Which will slightly increase the file size)
You can use foobar2k to split the album wav file into separate tracks at the same time, based on the cue file. if you like. Just load the .cue file into the foobar2k play window (making sure that the audio file is in the same folder as the cue file). The tracks will show up. Then use f2K's Convert option to turn them into flac.
