Hi All!

Is there no activity in this group or is something wrong?

I have no messages, updates or any info the last few months....

Hi Turbo
This is in part my fault, as I've been ill over the past year, which is now almost sorted and also due to the fact that as a group we have almost completed our task.
Going back to when the group was in its hay day we were trying to make surround pervasive and also give ourselves the capability to back up our precious assets. Nowadays we can all find ways to back up our discs, which was due mostly to the work on this forum.
What is missing is a forum to share some of this content, away from prying eyes, as some items, particularly the old quad items are not available elsewhere. This stuff used to be shared on the 'noid et al but is now distributed rather randomly across the internet.
I would be interested if there are any takers for a members only site; where this could take place.  I for one would love to see the EoH upmix catalogue available, which is archived on the hub.
Anyway I ramble on.

While the "heyday" might have come and gone,    I am definitely interested in keeping posted on this idea of a "forum to share".     the recent revelations about the 2008 fire have shown that music enthusiasts who collect and digitize what they find perform an important service.    Even if it's a Q8 cartridge full of dropouts, it might end up being the only version that exists when all the dust settles. Also, when these rarities become popular, it sometimes results in more organized services like Vocalion or Pentatone doing a proper release.
While I don't have lots of time these days to enjoy the quad like I used to,  I wish there was a way where I could periodically upload things to some type of service where people could access them.   That reminds me that I should reconnect with the h- at some point, but it would be great if it was even simpler than that.

Sincerely,  CP Newtonville MA USA

Lokks,

A Facebook private group already exists for this purpose – sharing unavailable quad/surround recordings.  It's named 'Quad Traders', and their rule is, if it's currently commercially available at a fair price (i.e. not "collector" prices on eBay or whatever), and was not released in the past 10 years, then it's fair game for sharing via the group.

Heaps of good stuff posted almost daily, including some upmixes.

But there's more than likely stuff on our hub that their members don't have, so a private web page would still be a good idea.  But who's going to index all the stuff so members know what's available?

Daniel (Australia)

Ugh, Facebook. I personally avoid it if at all possible, unless it is to connect with friends and family with their Messenger app.
Ben

p.s. a +1 from me too for a private web page.

I'd be also interested into a private, members only, online site. That would be a good alternative to the H-_, and much easier/convenient for many.

We actually had a private site "Hires Or Nothing" hosted by HeresJohnny.
The site have 137 memebers, most of them joined in 2010.
Still able to log into the site, but nothing written there since 2014.,but still lots of good information there :-)

Yes, some sort of private group sounds good. Any ideas on the platform? I'm not that savy.

Why not posting it at a 'dead' usenet group with a rare name, it is saved for more then 10 years, and use random generated names for the files....

Sounds to me like that would be way to cryptic

Hello - I’m interested in whatever the future platform is. Still moderatingQQ at times, also a member of Quad Traders. Got through some health issues of my own and tried to log in and could not. Is the hub kaput?

Tim
that's a port problem; either your firewall, router, or ports are configured incorrectly; have a look at the guide then if you still have problems ask on the hub, folks always help
Best Wishes
