Team Mission’s Trip to Lima

From June 13th through the 30th, we took a total of 15 people including my entire family to Lima for a short term mission’s trip. We documented the trip on my website (www.surrett.org/trips/y09/) with a video summary as well as a day-by-day account with pictures if you would like additional information. Here is a brief overview of the trip.

Church Ministries

We had a total of 11 church presentations including three presentations for a church’s Sunday morning services and a special program for the parents of children in the church’s Compassion program. We use songs, skits and a message to motivate the church and help them practically to serve God completely.

School Ministries

We also had the opportunity to go into 10 different schools doing a total of 13 presentations. Some of the schools were Christian schools but others were public or private schools. One of the public schools was a school that we were denied access to two years ago but this year the Lord allowed us to present the gospel to them. Another public school did not allow us to do a general presentation as we normally do but requested that we would go into the individual classrooms of their seniors to do the presentation. We wound up doing our presentation in 4 classrooms with smaller groups of students, which made it more personal.

One-On-One

God also gave us the opportunity to speak to a few people one on one: four different taxi drivers as well as a couple people after our open air presentations. Please pray for Alejandro, David, Carlos, and Perci that God will bring them to Himself.

Work Projects

We provided a couple of churches with some limited funds and unskilled labor as  they provided additional funds and guidance as to what needed to be done. We assisted with taking down walls, and putting up new walls; scraping and painting walls; hauling tiles; mixing cement; digging holes for concrete pillars and filling them with cement; cutting, bending, and assembling rebar; and general cleaning and organizing.

Other Ministries

As part of our busy schedule, we also hosted an evangelistic volleyball tournament, a teacher’s conference, a youth conference, and conducted three open air presentations. I also had a chance to talk to several pastors about our future ministry in Lima.

Thank You

We know that many people are praying for us especially on this trip. Thank you for your prayers and your faithful support. Our support level has come up some and we pray that God will continue to raise the funds so that we can return to Lima on a more permanent basis and continue with the ministries that He has opened up to us.
