There is more information available about our ministry on our website (www.surrett.org):

Family Update

We thank the Lord that Debbie’s dad is doing much better physically and has been able to go back to work. Emotional healing, however, is proving to take longer. We continue to ask God for wisdom in seeking to restore this relationship but also realize that it will have to be in His timing. This process has been draining and frustrating at times but God has used it to strengthen us.

Continued Deputation

After making it back home from Peru and Illinois where Debbie’s parents live, we have continued our deputation process being able to present our ministry to a few more churches and individuals as well as a special speaking opportunity at a ladies weekend retreat.

A Special Opportunity

Andy Pace, one of the missionaries in Lima who is the director of a Christian school is due to come back for furlough in September. We have worked with him in the past and he knows our desire to work with Christian schools as one of the aspects of our ministry. He asked if I would be able to take over as the interim director of the school while he is here in the United States. At first it did not seem that we would be able to go in time to be able to help him but our support level has increased to 80%. We talked it over with our home church and with our mission board and since the school in Peru would be willing to pay our rent while I serve as the director, we would have the funds needed to be able to go as Andy’s temporary replacement. Once I am no longer serving the school, if we need to, we will use some funds that we have been able to save during our deputation process to stay in Peru and continue our ministry efforts. At some point, we will need to raise some additional funds but we feel that the Lord is giving us this opportunity to get started and to gain valuable experience in Peruvian Christian education.

Our Tickets are Purchased

After receiving final approval from our home church and our mission board, we have purchased tickets for our family to go to Lima, Peru, on August 18th. This will allow us a little time to get settled in and for me to work with Andy to prepare for the transition into the role of the interim director.

Upcoming Schedule

Before we leave in August, we will be:

  • going to Maine to minister in a church and a men’s retreat,
  • coming back home for a couple days,
  • traveling to Oklahoma for a couple meetings and to drop off some luggage for my parents to take with them to Peru when they visit,
  • traveling to North Carolina,
  • coming back home to finish packing, cleaning and preparing for departure.

Prayer Requests

Thank you to all of you who are praying for us. We know that some of you do on a regular basis and we greatly appreciate and need your continued prayer support.

  • Praise that God is allowing us to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  • That we will not become so busy in preparing to leave that we forget to spend time with God.
  • For all of us, but especially JD, Amy, and Julia to trust in God through this emotional time of uncertainty, anxiety, and change.

In His care,

Jeff Surrett
