Today members of Surfrider Foundation, Victoria Chapter, along with members of the Juan De Fuca Trail Society and the Dogwood Initiative participated in a beach cleanup at Muir Creek.
Several large bags of trash were removed for disposal. Most of the trash recovered from the beach was fishing related (nets, plastic from fishing gear, rope). A significant amount of trash from area visitors (coffee cups etc) was also cleaned up. We were pleased that the amount of trash recovered, although it was substantial, was a fraction of that removed at the previous beach cleanup at Muir Creek; we are making a difference!
Many thanks to all who participated in today's cleanup.
