Swell Calculations

Good morning everyone!

I've added a new page to the forecasting group to provide swell
calculations for distance, decay, etc. at:
http://groups.google.com/group/surf-forecasting/web/swell-calculations

This is a work in progress, and I'll be updating it over time.
Currently, there are formulas for Great Circle distance to use in
Excel, a link to an Excel spreadsheet I've put together, and link to
an online calculator I provide for doing the Great Circle/Haversine
measurements.

As always, if you have any questions, suggestions or comments, please
feel free to reply to this post and join the discussion.

for your reference.

Just a quick note that I've updated the Swell Calculations page at:

I've worked out a basic logarithmic function to account for swell
decay. I also added an Excel version of this to provide the swell
decay factor for a given distance. The results are fairly accurate,
although they assume swells around 20-40 feet.
