YesIn fact, I re-installed 2142 today and was plesantly surpised to find a large number of server still up and running. You will have to download the latest patch, 1.50, which is over 500MB and may take a while to download. There is a 1.51 Beta but not sure how many server support it.
Dec 2011 - now that Battefield 3 has been released there are only around 20-30 servers online with varying numbers of players. It's best to find one server and stay on that one, then you get to know the "regulars" and it's quite enjoyable with a good squad.
There is not nearly as many as there used to be, and the number seems to drop each week. However, it is worth installing and upgrading to 1.50 as there are still are several decent ones. One nice side effect is you get to see a lot of the same players.
It's the time for me to say a goodbye at this game one last time before the shutdown; the multiplayer of this game is special to me because it was my first battlefield game and that I liked it. Anyways, good luck to everyone.
If your boosting party isn't available or you have time off to play by yourself you can work on pretty much all the trophies, a good chunk of them can be earned by simply playing, leveling up and unlocking stuff. Remember to take advantage of empty lobbies to earn some easy exp if you don't have anything else to do. If you start right now you will have months to spare before the servers go down. The only two trophies that you will HAVE to boost from the main trophy list are:
These trophies can also be done solo, but some players may find them tedious since they force you to go out of your way to do them, if you're experienced with battlefield or think you're capable go for them.
Arguably the worst part of this game. Realistically, this DLC could be completed in two hours since all four missions consist of go from point A to point B and kill everyhting you see, however these servers seem to work every full moon or so. You may be able to start playing immediately or it may take you days of trying to join a lobby until the servers feel like connecting you with other players. However, once you're in, these trophies should be a breeze.
Always do each map first on easy, normal or hard and then a second time on Hardcore. Why? There is an extremely rare glitch that randomly triggers if you earn both trophies at the same time by beating a map for the first time in hardcore mode in which the hardcore trophy will unlock but the one for beating the map won't. If this happens, that trophy is PERMANENTLY UNOBTAINABLE. Onslaught is a barebones online mode, completely unrelated to multiplayer, with nothing but a leaderboard and the map completion data gets stored in an online server. Since the game thinks you have both trophies (after all you had to beat the map to earn the hardcore one) you can replay the map 40 times a day until the servers go down and you still won't earn it. Unlike Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which also had a similar glitched trophy, the whole EA resetting your account workaround isn't possble here since even if EA did reset your account back to level 1, as far as the game is concerned your account already completed the map and thus you should have the trophy, plus your multiplayer progress has no bearing on this mode.
The miscellaneous and map/mode trophies can be done by chilling in empty servers. However, no one plays Vietnam anymore so it's literally impossible to earn the kill related trophies legit. I boosted back in 2019 with two different groups the kill trophies and in the combined 10 hours or so we played, we did not come across a single random. Thus, the following trophies require a boosting party to earn:
The Mirror's Edge 2009 servers closed in January of this year but the 100% is obtainable offline so it doesn't matter the servers have closed. Also, Mirror's Edge being mentioned in that article was a mistake which has now been corrected
Hurrah for the UK's excellent online gaming service Multiplay, for they have given us a Battlefield Bad Company 2 server of our very own. They're one of the companies hosting servers for the game, should you be interested in such things, and they can be rented here. Read on below for more RPS server stuff.
Okay, the easiest way to get onto the server is to type Rock, Paper, Shotgun into the server browser's search bar. It should pop right up. It's a 24-man Rush server at the moment.
As it does periodically, Electronic Arts is shutting down the online servers for a number of older, less-played titles by the end of the year. As spotted by PureXbox, EA is shutting down online servers for at least 12 games in the coming months, including Battlefield Bad Company 2, Dead Space 2, Crysis 3, and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, among others.
Crysis 3, Dante's Inferno, Dead Space 2, and Battlefield 1943, among others, are available through Xbox backwards compatibility, so anyone enjoying those games on a newer Xbox don't have much longer to make use of their online elements.
"As games are replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the games that have been live for some time dwindles to a level--typically fewer than 1% of all peak online players across all EA titles--where it's no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping the online services for these games up and running," EA said.
Unfortunately for fans of the Battlefield franchise, the online multiplayer servers for Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 are all being shut down on Friday, December 8. The Battlefield series has had it rough in recent years, especially after the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042, but there once was a time when the first-person shooter franchise was one of the most popular series on EA's roster.
The original Battlefield game launched in 2002 and is often hailed as one of the most important and innovative FPS games of all time. Many of the games that followed earn similar praise, with EA eventually positioning Battlefield as the chief rival to Activision's Call of Duty franchise. Some of the more popular Battlefield games on consoles were Bad Company and its sequel, but soon the online services for those games will be shut down forever.
On December 8, the online multiplayer services for Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be shut down. Battlefield fans were alerted to these shutdowns earlier in the year when all three games were delisted and removed from sale. Anyone wanting to experience the multiplayer modes for these games has less than a month to do so, and since the games were delisted, they will need to track down physical copies if they want to try to get into any games.
It's always sad when a game's online servers are shut down, but it may be particularly disappointing for Battlefield fans considering the current state of the franchise. While Battlefield 2042 updates have gone a long way in improving the game since launch, many would agree that it's still far from the best titles in the long-running FPS series. Many diehard Battlefield fans have called on DICE and EA to return the franchise to its glory days, but it has yet to happen.
Many fans would likely jump at the opportunity to play something like Battlefield: Bad Company 3, especially now that the first two games have already been delisted and are having their online multiplayer services shut down. Others would be happy with a new Battlefield game that uses a modern warfare setting like Battlefield 3 or Battlefield 4, a setting that the series hasn't really used since 2013.
The future of the Battlefield franchise remains uncertain at the time of this writing, but fans can continue playing Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer until December 8. After that, they will have to be satisfied playing one of the more recent Battlefield games.
Today whenever I enter my e-mail on iOS 10, iPhone 7 a message pops up with 'cannot verify server identity'...previosly this gave you the option to continue, details or cancel...now on iOS 10 the continue option has been dropped so I cannot simply click and get my e-mails...does anyone know how to fix? I have searched online with no joy as all are much older versions of iOS. or based on safari issues.
The underlying problem in our case is our Exchange server is and a first connection to our exchange will go to Our server only has
contoso.com, not
mail.contoso.com on its list of accepted names, so the phone doubts the server. As explained ios users used to have an override button for this so we could look at the cert and determine it is ours actually, just missing the autodiscover name so we can accept it.
I have been using IMAP for years, the only time I EVER have problems is with iOS / MacOS and how it handles SSL certificates. I have their flagship iPhone 7 Plus 256gb, it's a work phone and effectively useless due to this BUG.
It's a new year so my ISP issues new certificates, fine on MacOS I just tell it to trust them, but on iOS I have no control. All I can do is press "cancel" when the pop up (spam?) warning message appears, and wait 2 seconds for the same message, cancel > popup > cancel > popup. I can't quit mail, launch springboards or do anything else when this loop happens. My only option was to turn off the phone and delete the account.
"Mail cannot verify server identity" endless cancel / popup loop made me restart my phone three times today and stopped me using my company email. If this was not Apples doing I would call it Malware. It's not funny, it's pathetic.
If you're able to receive but not send mail, I can confirm that this is all related to a bug in the SMTP server settings stored on the device. Someone else mentioned a version of this solution earlier, but here's a step-by-step guide to how I finally cleared it up after a day of dangerously high blood pressure:
