Crysis 3 Fps Drops

Ihave to notice that changing the setting Object from Very High to Low gives me a significant performance boost (up to 15fps at best more; depending on the scene in which the problem occurs), but the fps drop is still noticeable, especially in the one scene I ran nearly all my tests with.

Disabling Hyper-Threading or multiply CPU cores and hyper threading also didn't solve this problems while testing the same scene on an PC from a friend of mine with an GTX 660 (2GB VRAM) and an older i5-3570k @3.40GHz (not overclocked while Intel Turbo Boost is enabled) with a newer Windows 10 version and 8GB DDR3 RAM didn't showed this problem.


Note: The "hp" within the picture name means no hyperthreading (but all cores enabled). The "4cores" means that I disabled all cores except for 4 cores in my BIOS and I disabled hyper-threading, too. Pictures from 2017 and the FXAA and supersampling pictures have been created with the 17.11.1 driver. The supersampling means that I changed the Anti-Aliasing method within the game's profile in Readon Settings to Supersampling.


Note: I've removed some scenes from the captured content to keep the video as short as possible. The video contains two runs, the first one with Hyperthreading disabled and all cores enabled and the second run with Hyperthreading disabled and 4 cores enabled. Intel Turbo Boost 3.0 was enabled the whole time! The video may have stuttering in it at some points, so just take a look at the FPS indicator.


Those V-Sync problems only occur at Double Buffer OpenGL. That's why there is a OpenGL Triple Buffering option in AMD's panel. V-Sync never cuts the framerate in half on DirectX games, there has been a few cases but it's quite rare and switching to Triple Buffer fixes it anyway.


I've tested it again and it turns out: Changing Shadows and Objects to low gives me fps higher than 60. There is still an fps drop on the same spots it existed before, but it never drops under 60 with those settings. Everything else was still set to the settings in the original post.


1803 is not rolled out officially for anyone. So no you should not use that. AMD does not support insider builds. You use those builds at your own risk. So I certainly would not introduce that version into a situation that already isn't stable.


I will check out Crysis 3 myself tonight. See what happens to me. Some games have a setting that my be physics heavy and be catered to nvidias drivers. Probably the best thing is to just change one setting at a time until you find the one causing issue. I am on an RX 580 so I will look into it and see if I can offer any help.


Okay so I found the big ones that drop FPS on my RX580 they are Post Processing, Shading & Shadows. I had everything on very high and would drop to the mid 30's at times at 1440p. I took those three settings down one to high and frames now don't dip below 55 and mostly stay above 60. I can honestly say I saw Zero quality difference with those changes either. Game runs extremely well and smooth for me.


Me either, from everything I read even most games with so called direct x 12 support aren't really from the ground up direct x 12 engines. I think we are still to see what maximum benefit we will have from Direct X 12. From what I read when Direct X 12 is done right that multi-gpu is native and doesn't even require any specific support, it is just kinda baked in unlike how crossfire worked. Apparently it even will work with cards from different makers like 1 AMD and 1 Nvidia card. It will be neat to see when it starts happening on large scale. My guess is that we will be a couple more gpu generations into the future before we really start seeing the real benefits. It definitely seems that traditional crossfire support has dropped off a lot in recent titles.


Apparently Nvidia managed to introduce a bug in their drivers, which made Crysis 3 stutter and even have severe framedrops. The solution is to enable Ultra low latency mode in the Nvidia control panel. In this clip you can see, just how much the game stabilizes in the frametime graph in upper right corner, once Ultra low latency is activated. As a side note, setting it to "on" doesn't do the trick, it needs to be set to "ultra"!


No kidding, I played that one a long time ago and, despite being an obvious and totally understandable downgrade from the original PC game, the thing that infuriated me the most was how buggy the game was. I wouldn't call it completely broken, but it definitely had a lot of noticeable stuff. Like that one time I got stuck in the last mission for hours on end because the game wouldn't just open a certain door after glitching out, leading me to be completely puzzled as to what to do. It happened to me several times too, even after restarting.


Crysis was in fact one of the first PC games to really go all out on specs. Even high end PCs back in 2007 - 2008 had difficulty running the game. I for one, don't care about specs, as long as the game is enjoyable and runs fine that's all I care about.


Original Crysis taxes even modern CPUs quite seriously due to limited threading ability. Even if you're getting Crysis 2 and 3 to run at 60 FPS without fail (CryEngine 3 can use up to 8 cores), the original can still suffer some frame drops from CPU bottleneck. An i7 8700K with Titan X Pascal can fall below 40 FPS on the Ascension level. At the time of the PC Crysis' development, it was expected that there would eventually be 8 GHz Pentiums, which wasn't how things turned out.


Some modders are planning their own unofficial remaster for original Crysis with CryEngine 5.6.6. They will use Raytracing, SVOGI, and volumetric lighting/clouds/fog with other CE5 exclusive things. It'll be awhile though. Hopefully they can improve the multi-core support to fix the bottleneck issues.


Assassin's Creed Unity, Batman: Arkham Knight and numerous others all ran like shit when they launched on Steam. My laptop can't run today's AAA games, despite the fact I sunk $1200 - 1400 in paying for it and it works pretty good.


Crysis became infamous back in 2007 - 2010 for the specs it required to run properly. No computer back then was able to run the game without any issues, and it sort of mind boggles me that 13 years later in 2020 people are still struggling to get the game to look good and run well.


I'll play it again if this happens. Let's hope we get Crysis Warhead DLC for this later on... CW is a side-story game where you play as Psycho. One of my favorite levels in Crysis is Core, with the zero-gravity action.


I know it all too well... you best have about 5 GHz of clock speed (core count doesn't really matter) to truly max the original Crysis and C.Warhead on PC. My computer has 3.6 GHz (6 cores, but in this case IDGAF) and struggles with it. Someone is running CW in 4K on Enthusiast (Very High) settings in this video.


It runs terribly on the PS4. Numerous crashes and the Ascension level was completely broken where the airship would get slowly pulled down to the ground and was unable to elevate or progress in the level. Had to close the game down multiple times to be able to progress through the chapter. I actually believe it ran better on the PS3 (although it was a long time ago that I played that version). I normally don't complain too much about bad ports or whatever, but yeah the PS4 version was a complete mess.


Playing the trilogy right now on original ps4. Just finished 2 never encountered a single problem. Don't know if it's because i have a ssd inserted a keep my console clean etc. But everything runs smoothly. In fact, to me, it's one of the best optimized game this year.


Me experience with the remaster of the first game is this, Playing on a PS5 it had a stutter/ frame drop at every checkpoint. Anyone who has played it knows this game has a lot of checkpoints. Other than that it ran fine until latter missions when I started experiencing more frame drops and I ended up having for 4 crashes and 3 of them were during the last boss fight. The last boss is difficult enough on Delta difficulty and then having it crash 3 times was very frustrating.


I can deal with performance issues but the huge input lag on this makes it unplayable. Normally this is due to 30fps cap but even performance mode does nothing to help which is a first. Performance mode has eliminated input lag on every game that has it. Like Shadow of the Tomb Raider which Digital Foundry talked about.


I'm having no performance issues besides the checkpoint stutter that's in the PS360 port too. It does crash too often, it's crashed twice on me in the mountain level. I'm not seeing any input lag whatsoever on base PS4. I have the physical copy. My biggest complaint about the game is the low gravity fights suuuucccckkkk. They suck so much, it's just too disorienting lol. Great game overall, I'm going to get all the trophies except the delta playthrough and move on to 2&3. I love crysis, I want to save the plat for a milestone ?
